Echoes of "Moc Chau - Call of Love Season"

These days, Moc Chau Plateau is bustling with the atmosphere of Independence Day, with flags and flowers blooming all over the streets. Groups of young men and women in colorful costumes of ethnic minorities flock to the market. This is also the time of the 2025 Moc Chau Culture and Tourism Week with the theme "Moc Chau - Call of Love Season", attracting a large number of tourists to experience.

For 20 years, Moc Chau Culture and Tourism Week has been held annually on the occasion of National Day September 2nd and has become a brand of Moc Chau tourism. In the early years, it was the Mong ethnic cultural festival, then developed into the Moc Chau district ethnic cultural festival. By 2023, it was upgraded to a provincial-level event, called the "Moc Chau - Call of Love" Culture and Tourism Week. This year, Moc Chau Culture and Tourism Week was held at a time when the whole country was implementing the 2-level local government model, organized on a scale and nature of inter-commune and ward. The People's Committee of Moc Son ward was assigned by the Provincial People's Committee to preside over and coordinate with the People's Committees of the communes and wards: Moc Chau, Thao Nguyen, Van Son, Long Sap, Chieng Son, Doan Ket, Tan Yen and related departments, branches, sectors and units to organize.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Truong, Chairman of Moc Son Ward People's Committee, informed: This year's Culture and Tourism Week takes place from August 28 to September 2, not only to meet the needs of cultural enjoyment, improve the spiritual life of the people, but also to contribute significantly to restoring, preserving, honoring and promoting the unique cultural identity of the ethnic groups in the area. At the same time, promoting socio -economic development, tourism development; promoting the Moc Chau tourism brand "The world's leading regional natural destination" to a large number of people and domestic and international tourists.

In the vibrant, bustling atmosphere with the sound of gongs and drums, visitors can immerse themselves in the unique cultural space of ethnic groups, such as: Experiencing the space of ethnic community cultural camps, community cultural performances, traditional folk games, street community cultural activities... attracting a large number of people and visitors to come and experience.

Cultural camps of communes and wards have displayed and introduced cultural and tourism potential, religious spaces, costumes, jewelry, labor tools, production, traditional handicrafts, local agricultural specialties; publications, images, information to attract investment, develop tourism; organized activities to experience unique ethnic cultures, such as: brocade weaving, creating patterns on fabric, Thai dance, panpipe dance, bell dance, bamboo pole dancing and community cultural activities, ethnic sports, folk games.

The festival featured many unique cultural and sports activities of the Mong ethnic group, such as: Displaying, introducing and organizing activities to experience the art of decorating patterns on fabric of the Mong ethnic group, such as embroidery and beeswax painting. In particular, the round of pounding sticky rice cake with the participation of 5 teams from communes and wards attracted a large number of people and tourists to watch and cheer because of the attractiveness of the competition as well as the spirit of coordination of the members, the process of making cakes requires dexterity and rhythm.

Lively and impressive is the street community cultural activity introducing folk songs, folk dances, and unique traditional musical instruments with the participation of more than 150 artists and mass actors of the ethnic groups: Thai, Dao, Muong, Mong. Street activities are performed at several points on Highway 6 and the inner city roads of Moc Son ward.

Coming to Moc Chau with her family on the 2/9 holiday, Ms. Le Hong Phuong, a tourist from Hai Phong city, shared: The natural scenery in Moc Chau is very beautiful, the people are friendly and hospitable. Coming here, I not only admired the beauty of the ethnic people in traditional costumes, but also participated in and learned about many unique cultural activities, bringing me interesting and memorable experiences on the occasion of National Day this year.

In the cool autumn air on the plateau, people and tourists also enjoyed the art program with the theme "Sentiment of Moc Chau land". The program was elaborately staged, gathering more than 200 artists, actors from Son La College and artisans, mass art troupes from performing wards. The singing and the sound of the panpipes harmonized with the bustling sound of gongs and cymbals in the festival night, bringing the audience interesting experiences about the land and people of Moc Chau plateau.

Joining the bustling atmosphere of the whole country on the National Day anniversary, on the morning of September 2, people flocked to the border commune of Long Sap, immersing themselves in attractive cultural and sports activities, such as: Tug of war, pounding rice cakes, tu lu, throwing con; cultural exchanges with many unique performances, imbued with the cultural identity of the Mong, Thai, and Kho Mu ethnic groups by the art troupes of the villages. In particular, the soft and graceful Lam Vong dances of Lao friends made the program more attractive; expressing the close brotherly affection of the two ethnic groups, celebrating Vietnam's National Day.

Mr. Tran Xuan Thanh, Chairman of Long Sap Commune People's Committee, informed: With the theme "Long Sap - Border Love", the cultural exchange activities aim to honor the cultural identity of the ethnic groups living together in the commune and promote the beautiful natural landscapes, the solidarity, friendship, and closeness of the people of Vietnam and Laos. At the same time, it affirms the determination of the Party Committee, government and people of Long Sap ethnic groups in preserving, exploiting and promoting cultural values, supporting each other to develop services for tourists, gradually making tourism an important economic sector, associated with the goal of sustainable development.

Experiencing activities in the border commune of Long Sap, Mr. Nguyen Van Nam, a tourist from Hung Yen province, shared: Coming to Long Sap, we witnessed and experienced many cultural activities of the people in the border area; being immersed in the unique and impressive solidarity dance. This year's Independence Day was very joyful and meaningful for us.

Within the framework of the activities of the Culture and Tourism Week, there was also the Moc Chau Safe Agricultural Products and Trade Fair, with 210 booths of 100 enterprises, cooperatives and business households; of which, there were 20 booths displaying and introducing the strong agricultural products of Son La province, with many typical agricultural products, certified for safety, OCOP products, attracting a large number of local people and tourists to visit and shop. Along with that, there was a men's football tournament for Mong ethnic boys to compete. With the spirit of solidarity and honesty in sports, the athletes brought beautiful football moves, attractive matches, attracting a large number of local people and tourists to watch and cheer.

Cultural and tourism activities are maintained and organized on the occasion of the National Day on September 2nd every year, not only creating a joyful atmosphere for people to celebrate Independence Day but also introducing the beautiful land of Moc Chau, the friendly and hospitable people of Moc Chau. Thereby, attracting a large number of people and tourists to experience and explore Moc Chau - the world's leading natural destination.
