Subject Luong Van Tho confessed at the police station.

Previously, on July 24, the Criminal Police Department of An Giang Provincial Police received a report from Vinh An Commune Police about a theft of 460 million VND, which occurred at around 10:10 a.m. on July 23, 2025, on a rural road in Vinh Phu Hamlet, Vinh An Commune.

Less than 48 hours later, detectives and investigators from the Criminal Police Department and Vinh An Commune Police identified and arrested Luong Van Tho as the suspect who committed the theft.

The investigation determined that Tho was addicted to gambling and had run up debts. To have money to spend, pay off debts and gamble, Tho went to areas where farmers were harvesting rice, looking for people who worked as rice brokers to steal money from the trunk of a car.

On July 23, Tho drove his motorbike from his home to a rural road in Vinh Phu hamlet, Vinh An commune and discovered a motorbike parked on the road, but no one was watching it, so he approached and picked the trunk to steal 460 million VND. Tho used the stolen money to pay off his debt and participate in gambling.

On July 25, Tho was arrested with about 100 million VND, a motorbike and other items related to the theft of property seized.
