An Giang proposes to implement 17 natural disaster prevention projects with a total capital of 5,404 billion VND

Currently, the situation of natural disasters and landslides in An Giang is complicated and increasingly serious. To ensure the safety of people's lives and property in the area, a large source of funding is needed to overcome landslides.

The People's Committee of An Giang province has just issued Document No. 402/BC-UBND reporting on the implementation of projects to handle riverbank and coastal erosion in the Mekong Delta region using the central budget reserve in 2023, sent to the Inter-sectoral Working Group - Ministry of Planning and Investment .

In the above document, the People's Committee of An Giang province said that the current situation of natural disasters and landslides in An Giang province is complicated and increasingly serious. To ensure the safety of people's lives and property in the area, a large source of funding is needed to overcome landslides. In the long term, An Giang province needs to continue implementing 17 projects to prevent natural disasters with a total cost of 5,404 billion VND, including 14 embankment projects to overcome landslides, with a total cost of 4,463 billion VND and 3 projects to prevent natural disasters in residential clusters and routes, with a total cost of 941 billion VND.

Specifically: Embankment to overcome erosion of Tien River bank at the junction with Tan Chau embankment, Long Chau ward, Tan Chau town, estimated cost of 272 billion VND; Embankment to overcome erosion of Rach Gia - Long Xuyen canal bank (Nguyen Thanh Son and Ngo Quyen banks), Long Xuyen city, estimated cost of 190 billion VND; Embankment to overcome erosion of Hau river bank to protect An Chau town, Chau Thanh district, estimated cost of 150 billion VND; Embankment to prevent erosion of Tien river bank to protect residents in Cho Moi town, Cho Moi district, estimated cost of 360 billion VND; Construction of embankment to protect residential areas in Chau Doc city, Tan Chau town and An Phu district, estimated cost of 1,890 billion VND; Embankment project to prevent erosion of Xep Nang Gu canal bank, respond to climate change, protect National Highway 91, residential areas of Binh My and Binh Thuy communes, Chau Phu district, estimated cost of 657 billion VND...

An Giang proposed the Inter-sectoral Working Group to consider and propose the Ministry of Planning and Investment to support the central budget for the province to immediately invest in two urgent and especially dangerous projects with a total capital of 347 billion VND. These are: Embankment to overcome landslides on the Tien River bank at the junction of Tan Chau embankment, Long Chau ward, Tan Chau town, with a length of 1,426 m, total investment of 272 billion VND; Embankment project to urgently handle landslides on the west bank of Hau River at group 44, Binh Duc 4 hamlet, Binh Duc ward, Long Xuyen city, An Giang province (from the existing embankment towards Can Xay bridge), with a length of 500 m, total investment of 75 billion VND.
