A strong bridge between the Vietnamese and Cambodian business communities

According to VNA correspondent in Phnom Penh, the congress was attended by over 100 delegates from 63 member enterprises, members of the Advisory Board, and professional boards of the Association. Representatives of the Cambodian Ministry of Interior , the Association of Overseas Vietnamese Entrepreneurs (BAOOV), representatives of the Business Associations of Tay Ninh, Dong Thap, An Giang provinces and Can Tho city were guests of the congress.

At the congress, delegates reviewed the journey of activities and outstanding results of VCBA over the past year, since its establishment on January 30, 2024. After its establishment, the VCBA leadership team quickly got to work, made continuous efforts, and achieved many remarkable results in the association's launch journey. With the goal of promoting Vietnam - Cambodia trade relations, this congress is also an opportunity to meet, connect trade and business cooperation between VCBA members in particular, as well as the Vietnamese and Cambodian business communities in general.

Speaking at the Congress, Vietnamese Ambassador to the Kingdom of Cambodia Nguyen Minh Vu affirmed that the association has become a solid bridge between the Vietnamese and Cambodian business communities, while actively contributing to promoting bilateral economic , trade and investment cooperation.

Appreciating the development of VCBA since its inception, Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu emphasized that Vietnamese enterprises operating in Cambodia not only bring economic benefits, contribute to the budgets of the two countries, create jobs for Cambodian people, carry out social security work in the area, but also act as "friendship ambassadors", contributing to connecting feelings and promoting substantive cooperation between the two countries. VCBA and its member enterprises have organized very meaningful activities in supporting the Vietnamese community and Cambodian people in difficulty.

On this occasion, Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu praised the practical and effective contributions of Vietnamese enterprises in general and VCBA member enterprises in particular in recent times. The efforts, sense of responsibility and contributions of enterprises and VCBA to the community have been contributing to building the traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation and long-term sustainability between the two countries.

Regarding the Association's future direction of operation, Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu suggested that the Association should have specific propaganda and promotion measures and plans to attract more and more Vietnamese enterprises and people of Vietnamese origin to join the Association, strengthen solidarity and unity among the Association's members, increase support and mutual assistance; promote the role of a bridge between the Association's members, between the business community and the governments of the two countries.

At the congress, delegates participated in a discussion session, with many presentations on challenges and opportunities for business development, promoting Vietnam - Cambodia trade cooperation, and increasing the presence of Vietnamese goods in the country of pagodas. The congress elected an Executive Committee for the 2025-2029 term consisting of 25 members and an Inspection Committee consisting of 3 members.

By the end of August, VCBA had attracted and admitted 63 member enterprises, accounting for about 15% of the total number of Vietnamese enterprises investing and doing business in Cambodia. Notably, among VCBA members are many enterprises and businessmen of Vietnamese and Cambodian origin.

The first VCBA Congress was a great success, marking a new milestone in the maturity of the Vietnamese business community and people of Vietnamese origin in Cambodia.
