The Standing Committee of the City Party Committee met to hear a report on the prevention and control of Storm No. 3.
(Haiphong.gov.vn) - On the afternoon of September 5, comrade Le Tien Chau, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Head of the Hai Phong National Assembly Delegation chaired a meeting of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee to listen to a report on the work of preventing and fighting storm No. 3. Also attending were comrades: Nguyen Van Tung, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People's Committee; Do Manh Hien, Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee; comrades of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee and leaders of relevant departments, branches and units.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, storm No. 3 of 2024 is highly likely to directly affect the sea and mainland of the Northern region in the coming days; the strongest wind at sea is forecast to reach level 14, gusting to level 17.
According to the report, currently, sectors and localities have coordinated with families of ship owners, captains, and owners of aquaculture cages to notify and guide fishermen and vehicle owners in the area, especially offshore fishing vessels, to grasp the developments of the storm so that they can proactively move to avoid it; strictly maintain the on-duty regime, organize reviews and inspections of plans, prepare forces and means, and be ready to handle situations that may arise; strengthen regular work; conduct reviews and inspections of plans and plans to ensure security, order, traffic safety, fire prevention and fighting, and rescue; check and prepare vehicles, means, materials, and equipment, and be ready to perform tasks when required....
After listening to the reports and opinions of the delegates, Secretary of the City Party Committee Le Tien Chau acknowledged and highly appreciated the direction of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of the city and the units, localities and forces that have been proactive and prepared to respond to Storm No. 3 closely following the actual situation; paying special attention to key areas, dykes, seaports, storm shelters, communication systems, power transmission systems, industrial zones, clusters, works under construction, high-rise buildings, production areas, agricultural product cultivation, schools... to protect the safety of property and lives of people and tourists.
The Secretary of the City Party Committee agreed with the planned next tasks and assigned the Standing Committee members of the City Party Committee to closely follow the grassroots, directly lead and direct flood prevention and control work in localities. He noted that it is necessary to have command working groups on duty, to have scenarios for situations that may occur to handle promptly, and ways to resolve them; clearly define the responsibilities of each unit and locality according to their functions and tasks to deploy the work; have a coordination mechanism, timely reporting; assign staff on duty. The Secretary of the City Party Committee also requested the City's Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense to hold an online meeting with localities down to communes, wards and towns on the afternoon of September 6 after the inspection teams went to the field to grasp the situation to have plans to direct flood and storm prevention work, ensuring effectiveness.
