Welcoming the delegation to visit and work in Hai Phong , Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Ngoc Chau stated: The Netherlands is one of the important European partners of Vietnam in general and Hai Phong in particular. The city always appreciates the multifaceted friendship and cooperation between the two countries, the Ambassador's attention and support, and the Netherlands' effective and practical cooperation with Hai Phong in recent times.
Informing the delegation about the potentials, advantages and outstanding results in the socio-economic development of Hai Phong in recent times, Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Ngoc Chau emphasized that Hai Phong currently has 16 foreign direct investment projects from the Netherlands with a total capital of 361 million USD, ranking 12th in terms of the number of projects and 11th in terms of foreign investment capital in the city. Notably, in April 2025, APM Terminals Group - the leading Dutch container port operator opened a representative office in Hai Phong and signed a comprehensive strategic partnership with Hateco Group to operate and exploit Hateco Hai Phong international container port.
Then, in July 2025, on the occasion of the city's Investment Promotion Conference within the framework of the 3rd Session of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC), the city's leaders received the General Director of CTP Group - the leading industrial park developer in the Netherlands and asked the group to study and deploy an ecological industrial park model for sustainable development in Hai Phong.
These are encouraging signs to hope for an investment wave of Dutch enterprises in Hai Phong in the coming time.
Emphasizing the development orientation of Hai Phong to become a modern, civilized, ecological and livable industrial seaport city of the Southeast Asian region; a pioneer in industrialization, modernization, digital transformation, green transformation and innovation; a leading center of marine economy, high-quality tourism, services - logistics and clean energy in the country, an international center for training, research, application and development of marine science and technology..., the Chairman of the City People's Committee hopes that Ambassador Kees van Baar, in his role as a bridge, will promote cooperation activities, connect businesses, promote investment and trade, including promoting connections with CTP Group to research and implement cooperation and investment projects in Hai Phong.
Regarding the visit and work of the Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation of the Netherlands in Hai Phong within the framework of the visit to Vietnam in November mentioned by the Ambassador, the Chairman of the City People's Committee assigned the Department of Foreign Affairs to be the focal point, closely coordinating with the Embassy of the Netherlands to arrange the program to successfully organize the working session in Hai Phong.
Regarding the investment project to build a wastewater collection and treatment system using non-refundable aid from the Dutch sponsor, Hai Phong wishes to continue implementing the project and will actively and closely coordinate to carry out the next steps.
In addition, with proposals to further promote cooperation in the fields of seaports, construction, shipbuilding, high-tech industry, logistics, maritime, etc. at the meeting, these are all key areas for Hai Phong's development in the coming time. The city always accompanies and creates the most favorable conditions to realize these cooperation opportunities.

The Ambassador proposed that within the framework of the visit and working session of the Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation of the Netherlands to Vietnam in November, the business delegation on seaport development led by the Minister will have a meeting with the Chairman of the City People's Committee and relevant departments, branches and sectors to learn about the planning and development of seaports and logistics systems of Hai Phong as well as promote cooperation between the two sides in the above fields.
After this meeting, the Ambassador will increase information about Hai Phong's outstanding achievements in socio-economic development to Dutch enterprises, including CTP Group; at the same time, he hopes that the city will continue to create conditions to promote many new successful and effective cooperation projects in the future.
