Red alert: Emergency surgery for 2 victims of 4-story building collapse in Ho Chi Minh City

At 5:00 p.m. on September 24, the leader of Gia Dinh People's Hospital said that at about 3:00 p.m. on the same day, the Emergency Department of Gia Dinh People's Hospital received a case of a 23-year-old male patient (residing in Soc Trang ) who was the victim of a 4-story house collapse in alley 133 Binh Quoi, Ward 27, Binh Thanh District, admitted to the hospital in a state of multiple injuries. The patient suffered a fractured left femur, bilateral lung contusions, and head, chest, and neck injuries.

At around 4:00 p.m. the same day, the Emergency Department received the second case of the house collapse, hospitalized due to multiple injuries. This was a 31-year-old male patient. The patient was hospitalized with open fractures of both tibiae.

Both patients were given emergency treatment and urgently consulted by many specialties such as orthopedics, neurosurgery, thoracic vascular surgery, etc. in a red alert state at the hospital. Currently, the two patients were transferred to the Anesthesia - Resuscitation Department for further emergency treatment, surgery, and intensive care.

Previously, speaking to Thanh Nien reporter, Dr. Tran Trung De, Director of Binh Thanh District Hospital, said that the hospital received 6 victims of the 4-story building collapse. Of these, 2 serious cases were transferred to Gia Dinh People's Hospital.

4 cases were taken care of in the resuscitation room of the Emergency Department of Binh Thanh District Hospital. They suffered minor injuries, but their health was stable and nothing special was recorded.

By 5:30 p.m., two of the victims were in stable condition and had been discharged from the hospital. One victim said that there were nine people in the house when the house collapsed, and there were no signs that the house was about to collapse. This person added that his health is currently stable, with only superficial injuries.

Initial information, at more than 12 o'clock on the same day, a group of workers were repairing a 4-storey house in alley 133 Binh Quoi (Ward 27, Binh Thanh District). While working, they were using a drill when the house suddenly collapsed completely, trapping the workers.

At the scene, the rubble spread out, spilling onto some surrounding houses and the road. Local residents escaped in time.

At this point, the authorities have taken all people inside the house out and are investigating and clarifying the cause of the incident.

Preliminary information from the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department (PC07, Ho Chi Minh City Police), the unit has mobilized 7 specialized vehicles and 42 officers and soldiers to the scene for search and rescue. Colonel Huynh Ngoc Quan, Deputy Head of PC07, directly went to the scene to command the search and rescue work.

The initial cause was that the house was under repair and tilted and collapsed. The property damage was the complete collapse of the house.
