Bao Lam 1 faces difficulties due to bauxite planning

Bao Lam 1 commune has up to 77.8% of its area entangled in mineral planning.

Bao Lam 1 Commune has an area of 20,443 hectares, population of 44,151 people, of which ethnic minorities are 9,709 people, accounting for 21.99%.

In the period 2025 - 2030, Bao Lam 1 commune identified 9 projects that need investment and construction. However, after reviewing many projects, investment attraction projects are all stuck in mineral planning.

Currently, Bao Lam 1 commune has focused on reviewing and proposing solutions to problems related to mineral exploration and exploitation planning according to Decision No. 866/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister to deploy planning, review and adjust planning in a unified and synchronous manner. Thereby, this work aims to improve the effectiveness of state management, create conditions for socio -economic development and remove bottlenecks in attracting investment. Develop various types of planning in the area such as: adjusting land use planning to 2030; planning for construction of Bao Lam 1 commune; planning for construction of central areas, residential areas and related planning.

Along with that, Bao Lam 1 commune has stepped up propaganda and promotion of potential strengths and investment calling projects in the commune. Actively attracting investment in agricultural tourism , eco-tourism resorts at Dak Long Thuong lake and Loc Thang lake. Mr. Trinh Van Thao - Chairman of Bao Lam 1 Commune People's Committee said: The commune has an overlapping mineral planning area of 15,904 hectares, accounting for about 77.8% of the total area. From 2023 to now, the approval of investment policies and implementation of project works in the area related to bauxite exploration, exploitation and processing planning has encountered some difficulties and obstacles. Currently, the commune is completing the planning and attracting investment, continuing to synchronously implement the planning in the commune. Promote the removal of difficulties, create conditions to attract investors to key projects, effectively exploit the commune's competitive advantages.

In particular, through reviewing existing structures such as office buildings, agencies, units, and schools, it emerged that schools in the area are showing signs of deterioration, affecting teaching and learning.

In Bao Lam 1 commune, there are currently 19 schools invested in and built in many stages. However, all schools in Bao Lam 1 commune are located in the area overlapping with the mineral planning according to Decision No. 866/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister . Therefore, in recent years, maintenance and repair have not been carried out.

Typically, at Hoa Mai Kindergarten; Dinh Tien Hoang Primary School; Loc Quang Secondary School, most of the classrooms, restrooms, and equipment have degraded; the electrical system is damaged; and the schoolyard is muddy due to an unstable drainage system.

According to the People's Committee of Bao Lam 1 commune, in the face of the serious damage and degradation of schools, the commune has submitted a request for funding to urgently repair the physical facilities of educational establishments in the commune to the People's Committee of Lam Dong province and the Department of Finance.
