Storm No. 9 weakens into a tropical depression

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at noon on September 25, storm No. 9 weakened into a tropical depression.

At 10:00, the center of the tropical depression was at about 21.5 degrees North latitude; 108.4 degrees East longitude, about 40km east of Mong Cai ( Quang Ninh ). The strongest wind near the center of the tropical depression was level 7 (50 - 61km/h), gusting to level 9.

It is forecasted that in the next 3 hours, the tropical depression will move west at a speed of about 15-20km/h.

Regarding the flood situation on rivers in the Northern region and Thanh Hoa, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting warns that from September 25 to September 27, there is a possibility of a flood on rivers in the Northern region and Thanh Hoa, with a flood amplitude of 3-5m in the upper reaches of rivers and 1-3m in the lower reaches of rivers. During this flood, the flood peak on Thao River, Lo River, the upper reaches of Thai Binh River, Hoang Long River, Buoi River, and the upper reaches of Ma River will rise to alert level 1-alarm level 2; some small rivers will rise above alert level 2; the flood peak in the lower reaches of Red River-Thai Binh River and Ma River will be below alert level 1.

River floods inundate low-lying areas along the river, affecting activities such as waterway transport, aquaculture, agricultural production, people's lives and socio-economic activities.

Currently, water levels on the main rivers of the Red-Thai Binh and Thanh Hoa river systems have small fluctuations and are below alert level 1.
