Ha Tinh evacuated nearly 15,000 people to safety before storm No. 10

Faced with the complicated developments of storm No. 10 with heavy rain, strong winds and high tides, Ha Tinh province has urgently evacuated nearly 15,000 people in vulnerable areas to safe places. By 3:00 p.m. on September 28, all evacuation work was completed, ensuring the lives and livelihoods of the people.

In Dan Hai commune, where the Hoi Thong dike has degraded, the authorities have coordinated closely to evacuate 1,300 households with 2,800 people to 3 gathering points. The evacuation points are arranged at schools and cultural houses with solid houses and safe locations.

Ms. Vo Thi Chat, Thai Phong village, shared: "Hearing that storm No. 10 was forecast to be very strong, the police force mobilized me to take shelter from the storm. I packed my belongings to leave immediately because I am old and staying at home is not safe.

Dan Hai commune is a vulnerable area due to the degraded Hoi Thong dike. Therefore, the military and police forces coordinated with the government to evacuate 1,300 households with 2,800 people to 3 gathering points. At the same time, they supported people to raise their property and reinforce their houses to limit damage.

Captain Tran Cong Dai, Deputy Chief of the Commune Police, said: "We have arranged 100% of our staff on duty and mobilized 3 cars to support the evacuation of people. In particular, in the case of lonely elderly people, the commune police force went to the scene to mobilize and support the evacuation of people to a safe place."

Up to now, households in vulnerable areas in Ha Tinh have been urgently evacuated to schools and cultural houses. At the concentrated evacuation points, necessities, food and medical supplies are fully prepared, ensuring that people can safely take shelter during the rainy and stormy days.

Mr. Tran Quynh Thao, Chairman of the People's Committee of Dan Hai commune, affirmed: "The government focuses on evacuating people safely and puts people's lives first. Currently, before the storm hits, the commune has completed a plan to bring people to safe shelters."

Following the direction of the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province, the evacuation of people in the whole province was completed before 3:00 p.m. on September 28. Localities simultaneously rushed to reinforce houses, protect property and arrange adequate accommodation and living facilities for people at storm shelter No. 10.

Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province Vo Trong Hai said that in response to storm No. 10, local forces have participated in supporting the reinforcement of dykes, evacuating people, trimming tree branches, bracing schools, construction works, and harvesting agricultural products. The whole province has 3,983 vessels and boats, and up to now, all have safely come ashore. Ha Tinh banned the sea at 7:30 a.m. on September 27. Up to now, localities and units have organized the evacuation of over 6,700 households with 14,529 people to safety. Ha Tinh province continues to closely monitor the developments of storms and floods to promptly direct response solutions, ensuring the safety of people, property, and works. Localities and units maintain forces, vehicles, and equipment ready to respond to storm No. 10.
