Former Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ha Giang province arrested

On the evening of January 10, according to information from the Ha Giang Provincial Police, the Provincial Police Investigation Agency has just issued a decision to prosecute and execute an arrest warrant to detain 2 people for 4 months in the case of "Violating bidding regulations causing serious consequences" that occurred at the Department of Education and Training of Ha Giang province in 2017.

Those prosecuted include: Vu Van Su (born in 1958, residing in group 13, Minh Khai ward, Ha Giang city) and Tran Tien Bang (born in 1965, residing in group 16, Nguyen Trai ward, Ha Giang city).

According to authorities, Mr. Su is the former Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ha Giang province; Mr. Bang is the former Deputy Head of the Financial Planning Department, Department of Education and Training of Ha Giang province).

Previously, in the same case, on December 16, 2023, the Provincial Police Investigation Agency issued a decision to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused; issued an arrest warrant to detain the accused for 4 months against Ms. Vu Thi Thanh Huyen (born in 1969, permanent residence at Group 13, Tran Phu Ward, Ha Giang City - former Head of the Financial Planning Department, Department of Education and Training of Ha Giang Province) and Vu Thi Thu Hoa (born in 1970, permanent residence at Group 13, Nguyen Trai Ward, Ha Giang City - former Accountant, Department of Education and Training of Ha Giang Province).

The investigation results determined that, in the process of organizing the purchase of assets for ethnic minority boarding schools and public primary and secondary schools with boarding students in areas with particularly difficult socio-economic conditions, from 2017 to 2020, this group took advantage of their positions and powers to illegally intervene in bidding activities, causing huge losses to the State budget.

The case is being continued to be investigated and resolved by the Provincial Police Investigation Agency according to the provisions of law.
