Bach Mai Hospital officially deploys a paperless, intelligent management system; integrating VNeID

(Chinhphu.vn) - In 2022, Bach Mai Hospital faced many difficulties after the COVID-19 pandemic, even facing the risk of not having enough finances to pay staff salaries. Up to now, the Hospital has not only overcome the crisis, improved the income of doctors and nurses, but also become the first medical unit of the Ministry of Health to complete electronic medical records, gradually building a smart hospital model.

Today (October 4), Bach Mai Hospital held a ceremony to receive the Government's Emulation Flag and the Ministry of Health 's Certificate of Merit; announced the paperless Smart Hospital and School Management System; authenticated and signed the Bach Mai Care App via VNeID and the opening ceremony of the 2025-2026 school year of Bach Mai Medical College. Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long sent a flower basket to congratulate the Hospital.

6 core strategic pillars to shape the hospital of the future

At the ceremony, Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Xuan Co, Party Secretary, Director of Bach Mai Hospital shared that, after more than a century of construction, development and growth, Bach Mai Hospital has now become the first special-class complete general hospital in the country, one of the highest-level medical centers, and the leading medical human resource training center in Vietnam.

Bach Mai Hospital receiving the Government's Emulation Flag today is a noble recognition for its tireless and tireless efforts, marking the comprehensive development of all aspects of the Hospital in the recent period. This is both an honor and pride, as well as a great responsibility that urges the staff and employees of Bach Mai Hospital to continue to strive to build the Hospital to develop even more.

Emphasizing that the development of specialized science and technology is considered by Bach Mai Hospital as a decisive factor for sustainable and breakthrough development, while focusing on specialized technical spearheads in each stage, linking investment in modern equipment with training of highly skilled staff, Associate Professor Dao Xuan Co said that up to now, the Hospital has many modern techniques that have been deployed on par with advanced countries in the region and the world.

Modern medicine globally is moving rapidly from a reactive care model to a predictive and personalized medicine model. This shift requires a parallel revolution: a revolution in data management and a revolution in the ability to perform intensive clinical interventions.

Realizing this, the Party Committee and Board of Directors of Bach Mai Hospital have identified 6 core strategic pillars to shape the future of the Hospital and contribute to shaping the future of the country's medicine. In which, digital transformation plays the role of a data platform, a blood vessel connecting information for high-precision clinical techniques, along with 5 pillars including: multi-organ transplantation, robotic surgery, stem cells, gene therapy and 3D printing applications in medicine.

Smart management system throughout the process

Also today, Bach Mai Hospital officially announced the deployment of the paperless, comprehensive smart hospital management system and the Bach Mai Care application integrating authentication and digital signature via VNeID. The integration of VNeID is not only an administrative utility but also a key premise, creating a safe and legal electronic identification and authentication mechanism for all medical records. This is a strategic step towards the deployment of national electronic health records, a key task of the Ministry of Health.

“In this way, Bach Mai is creating standardized data, ready for the connection and exchange of medical examination and treatment data between medical facilities nationwide... More importantly, the conversion from paper medical records to electronic medical records has helped Bach Mai Hospital save an estimated 100 billion VND per year,” Associate Professor Dao Xuan Co emphasized.

In the future, Bach Mai Hospital's strategic vision is to reach regional and international levels.

On this occasion, Bach Mai Hospital also announced the comprehensive smart management system. This is a strategic step to lay the foundation towards international standards, building a comprehensive culture and governance in the digital age, as leading countries have done through the integration of legislative and management innovation.

Bach Mai Medical College also chose to hold the Opening Ceremony of the 2025-2026 school year today. This is the first batch of students to benefit from studying in the Hospital's comprehensive smart digital management environment.

The combination of "Smart Hospital" and "Smart School" is expected to create a closed medical ecosystem, both improving professional capacity and ensuring sustainable development, and at the same time being a foundation for Bach Mai to expand international cooperation, attracting experts, scholars, and medical students from many countries to research and train.

Moving towards a nationwide replication model

However, up to now, through effective policy solutions, the Hospital has not only overcome the crisis but also improved the income of doctors and nurses, becoming the first medical unit of the Ministry of Health to complete electronic medical records, gradually building a smart hospital model.

The Minister assigned the "task" to the Board of Directors of Bach Mai Hospital to develop a comprehensive smart hospital project. On that basis, a pilot project will be implemented at the Hospital and a model will be used to replicate it nationwide.
