The ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long, Deputy Minister of Health Do Xuan Tuyen, representatives of ministries and generations of doctors and nurses of the hospital.
The Transport Hospital was established in 1955 with the aim of providing health care to cadres, workers, and laborers, and to serve the restoration of the Northern railway after the war against the French. The hospital was later expanded to provide medical examination and treatment to the people.
In 2015, the hospital was equitized, shifting from a state-subsidized model to a service model. To date, this is also the only hospital in the country operating under this model.
After 70 years of development, the hospital is ranked as a Grade I hospital, central level, serving medical examination and treatment for people.
Sharing at the celebration, Mr. Bui Sy Tuan Anh - Director of the Transport Hospital - said that the hospital has gone through many historical stages with changes in organization, structure and function.
"Despite many difficulties, the hospital has always maintained its spirit and persevered in its mission of dedicating itself to the health of the community. Up to now, the hospital has applied scientific and technological advances, improved its medical examination and treatment capacity, and met the health care needs of the people," Mr. Tuan Anh shared.
Deputy Minister of Health Do Xuan Tuyen also commented that the Transport Hospital has gone through extremely difficult periods when converting its operating model and equitization model in the health sector.
However, over the years, the hospital has made constant efforts to improve and develop. Up to now, the hospital has mastered many modern techniques such as percutaneous nephrolithotomy, applying scientific and technological advances to medical examination and treatment.
"We are moving towards developing private healthcare, so that private healthcare can participate in medical examination and treatment for people similar to public hospitals. Therefore, the hospital's operating model needs to continue to be researched and evaluated.
If the effectiveness can be replicated, public and non-public healthcare can develop proportionally. The ultimate goal is to take care of people's health, so that people can enjoy the best healthcare, closest to the people," said Mr. Tuyen.
At the ceremony, the Transport Hospital also received a certificate of merit from the Prime Minister, marking its 7-decade journey of formation and development.
