Heroic symbol in the East Sea

On January 7, 2025, Naval Region 4 will be honored by the President with the noble title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces. This is not only a recognition of the unit's great contributions over the past nearly 50 years, but also a strong affirmation of the will to protect the sacred sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland.

Nearly 50-year journey for sea and island sovereignty

Established right after the country's reunification on October 26, 1975, Naval Region 4 was assigned the task of managing a large sea area from Cu Lao Xanh (Binh Dinh) to Mui Ba Kiem ( Binh Thuan ), including 21 islands of the Truong Sa archipelago.

With an important strategic position in terms of economy, politics and national defense, this is a sea area that officers and soldiers of Region 4 always consider as the sacred flesh and blood of the Fatherland.

During nearly 50 years of construction and growth, generations of officers and soldiers of Region 4 have constantly strived and overcome all difficulties and hardships to firmly protect every inch of the sea and islands of the homeland.

The unit has achieved many outstanding achievements, from protecting the sovereignty of the Truong Sa archipelago to completing international missions in Cambodia, effectively handling complicated situations in the East Sea and successfully implementing important defense and security missions.

Golden marks

In the context of complicated developments in the East Sea, Naval Region 4 always strictly maintains combat readiness, reconnaissance, observation, promptly detects and handles millions of targets at sea, contributing to maintaining national sovereignty and a peaceful environment for national development.

Not only does it perform its national defense duties well, Region 4 is also a solid support for fishermen. Over the past 10 years, the unit has rescued more than 6,000 fishermen, assisted nearly 200 fishing boats in distress, affirming the role of “Uncle Ho’s soldiers” in the middle of the ocean.

At the same time, programs such as "The Navy is a fulcrum for fishermen to go offshore," "Greening Truong Sa" or the movement "The whole country for Truong Sa, Truong Sa for the whole country" have contributed to creating a deep connection between the army and the people, building Truong Sa island district increasingly strong.

Reaching out to defense diplomacy

Naval Region 4 is also a bright spot in defense diplomacy. Ships participating in international exchanges, exercises, and parades in Russia, China, India, Japan, etc. have left a good impression, raising the position of the Vietnam People's Navy in the international arena.

These achievements not only protect sovereignty early and from afar, but also deepen friendship with international friends.

Well-deserved title

The title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces is a worthy recognition of the extraordinary efforts of Naval Region 4. This is also a source of pride and motivation for officers and soldiers to continue to be absolutely loyal to the Party, the Fatherland and the people, to overcome all challenges, to firmly maintain every inch of the island and every stretch of sea of the homeland.

In the context of the complicated situation in the East Sea, Naval Region 4 pledges to continue promoting its heroic tradition, innovation, modernization, and readiness to fight and sacrifice for the ultimate goal: firmly protecting the sacred sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Vietnamese Fatherland.

The noble title is the crystallization of the mettle, intelligence and determination of a resilient collective, continuing the national pride and aspiration to maintain peace and stability in the East Sea. Naval Region 4 will forever be a heroic symbol on the Fatherland’s ocean./.
