Carp lanterns made of colorful fabric attract children
Along the children's toy stores, it is easy to see countless designs of mid-autumn lanterns, from traditional lanterns made of cellophane, bamboo to plastic and electronic lanterns. Ms. Nguyen Nhat Linh (resident of Duc Hoa commune) shared: "Children now like lanterns with music and familiar cartoon characters on TV, so their parents also indulge their preferences. I see that the designs of lanterns in recent years are very diverse, and the prices are also reasonable."
This year, the market has also seen wooden frame lamps sold with a set of paints priced from 60,000 to 100,000 VND, allowing children to unleash their creativity. In addition, lamps made of velvet zinc with LED lights are also popular thanks to their eye-catching design and durability over time.
The handmade glass paper lanterns with the shape of rooster, carp, butterfly or star,... have prices ranging from 100,000-500,000 VND/piece, depending on the size and meticulousness. Due to the easy-to-break nature and the need to be careful when using, this type of lamp is rarely chosen by parents for children to play with. However, many families still choose to decorate their homes, cafes and shops often use it to create a traditional Mid-Autumn Festival space, evoking an old and familiar atmosphere.
Star lanterns with plywood frames are popular.
Ms. Huynh Phuong Trang (residing in Binh Duc commune) said: “This year, I chose to buy battery-operated plastic lanterns for my child to go lantern-carving with his friends. They are both durable and safe. At home, I also decorated with carp lanterns made of cellophane. Although there are many modern designs out there, I still want my child to experience the Mid-Autumn Festival atmosphere in a traditional way.”
From the choices of parents, it can be seen that the market for mid-autumn lanterns is meeting both entertainment and decoration needs, bringing a variety of designs and prices. Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuoc Hau, owner of a toy store in Ben Luc commune, said: "I imported all kinds of mid-autumn lanterns from the beginning of the 7th lunar month to serve customers who want to give gifts and decorate early. Currently, the store has traditional paper lanterns, plastic lanterns, and electronic lights that play music. I prepared a large number of modern lantern models because they are suitable for the majority of customers. This year, purchasing power is still stable, but we have to compete a lot with lantern models on e-commerce platforms."
This year’s mid-autumn lantern market has both traditional and modern features. This diversity not only gives consumers more choices but also contributes to creating a full and colorful Mid-Autumn Festival./.
