Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said that currently, there are about 250 Vietnamese citizens in Nepal. Regarding recent developments in Nepal, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has directed the Vietnamese Embassy in India and Nepal to closely monitor the situation, urgently work with local authorities to find out information and the possibility of Vietnamese citizens in distress, and at the same time request to ensure security and safety for Vietnamese citizens in Nepal.
According to information from the Vietnamese Embassy in India and Nepal, so far, there has been no information recording Vietnamese citizens being affected by the current protests in Nepal.
The Vietnamese Embassy in India and Nepal is continuing to closely coordinate with local authorities to monitor the situation and is ready to take necessary protection measures in case Vietnamese citizens encounter difficulties.
In light of developments in Nepal, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends the following to Vietnamese citizens in the area:
First, limit going out, avoid going to areas with protests and riots, especially the capital Kathmandu and areas with security and safety risks.
Second , regularly monitor and update the situation on reputable local media and the website of the Vietnamese Embassy in India and Nepal.
Third , strictly comply with regulations and instructions on security and safety measures of local authorities and proactively take necessary security and safety measures for yourself and your relatives.
Fourth , regularly maintain close contact with the Vietnamese Embassy in India and Nepal.
Fifth , Vietnamese citizens who do not have a really necessary job should consider carefully before making a trip to Nepal.
In case of emergency, needing support and information on citizen protection plans, citizens can immediately contact the Embassy through the Embassy's citizen protection hotline or through the citizen protection hotline of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam.
