The Ministry of Home Affairs has just sent a dispatch to the Government proposing the 2026 National Day holiday schedule for officials, civil servants and workers.
Accordingly, for officials and civil servants, the Ministry has proposed a plan to swap for 5 consecutive days off on the occasion of National Day, September 2.
Specifically, civil servants are expected to have September 2, 2026 and the day immediately preceding September 1, 2026. The working day will be swapped from Monday (August 31, 2026) to the weekly day off on Saturday (August 22, 2026).
Thus, this group will have the National Day holiday in 2026 from Saturday, August 29, 2026 to Wednesday, September 2, 2026.
On the occasion of National Day holiday in 2026, civil servants and public employees will have 5 days off, including 2 National Day holidays as prescribed, 2 weekly days off and 1 day exchanged with a weekly day off.
For employees, the employer decides to give the employee 2 days off, including September 2nd and 1 day before or after.
Enterprises must notify employees of the 2026 National Day holiday plan at least 30 days before implementation.
If the weekly day off coincides with a public holiday as prescribed in Clause 1, Article 112 of the Labor Code, the employer shall arrange for the employee to take a compensatory weekly day off on the next working day as prescribed in Clause 3, Article 111 of the Labor Code.
The Ministry of Home Affairs also encourages employers to apply the 2026 National Day holiday period for employees as it does for civil servants and public employees, and at the same time encourages more favorable agreements for employees.
