On the afternoon of February 29, a working delegation of the Ministry of National Defense led by Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Binh, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army and Head of the Ministry of National Defense's Steering Committee on Combating Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) Fishing, inspected the Joint Command Center for Combating IUU Fishing at the Command of Coast Guard Region 4.
The delegation included Major General Nguyen Van Hoat, Deputy Director of the Operations Department, General Staff; Major General Tran Van Xuan, Deputy Political Commissar of the Coast Guard Command and functional agencies of the Ministry of National Defense, Border Guard Command, and Navy.
The Joint Command Center for Combating IUU Fishing at the Coast Guard Region 4 Command Center operates independently and is under the direct command and direction of the Chief, the Coast Guard Command Steering Committee for Combating IUU Fishing, including the following forces: Coast Guard, Navy, Border Guard, with the task of closely coordinating with cooperating units and local authorities to do a good job of propaganda, dissemination and education of the law, and grasp the situation of Vietnamese fishing vessels operating in the sea areas.

After listening to the report, the working group directly inspected the implementation of the tasks of the Joint Command Center, checked and compared the registration of fishing vessel information documents and reports, and combined with checking the operation of vessels and boats in the field through the Command Center.
In addition, it is necessary to check the foundation to maintain operations, especially monitoring, reminding, propagating, and calling on ships not to cross the border into foreign waters and to strictly comply with regulations on seafood exploitation.
Speaking at the working session, Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Binh highly appreciated the efforts of the Joint Command and agencies and units, especially the Command of Coast Guard Region 4, in strictly implementing the direction of the Ministry of National Defense and the Steering Committee for Combating IUU Fishing of the Ministry of National Defense, maintaining operations according to plan, regularly sharing and exchanging measures to combat IUU fishing among forces, achieving good quality results.
Commend the proactive and decisive spirit of the Joint Command and the Coast Guard Region 4 Command in promptly and effectively implementing solutions to put an end to the situation of Vietnamese fishing vessels exploiting seafood in violation of IUU regulations.
At the same time, it is required that in the coming time, the Joint Command Center proactively coordinate closely with the Coast Guard Region 4 Command and local authorities, be decisive in deployment and management, and especially grasp the situation in all aspects.
