The second round of the 2026 AFC U23 Championship qualifiers took place last night (September 6) and witnessed the success of many teams in Southeast Asia.

In Group C, the U23 Vietnam team won 1-0 against U23 Singapore. The U23 Vietnam team continues to lead this group after two matches, with 6 absolute points. Singapore has no points, ranked 3rd in the group.

In Group F, U23 Malaysia had a resounding 7-0 victory over Mongolia. Meanwhile, U23 Thailand excellently held U23 Lebanon to a 2-2 draw. This win-like draw helped U23 Thailand lead Group F with 4 points, equal to Lebanon, but Thailand ranked higher thanks to a better sub-index. U23 Malaysia ranked 3rd in this group with 3 points.

In Group J, U23 Indonesia beat Macau (China) 5-0. Meanwhile, U23 Laos lost to U23 Korea 0-7. However, the defeat of the country of a million elephants against the Korean youth team was not surprising.

In Group H, Brunei lost 0-10 to Bahrain. However, Brunei does not place much emphasis on achievements in the 2026 AFC U23 qualifiers.

After the second round, in the third round on September 9, some Southeast Asian teams will enter the series of matches that will decide their ticket to the next round.

Specifically, Myanmar will face Afghanistan in Group B, U23 Vietnam will face Yemen, Singapore will face Bangladesh in Group C. Timor Leste will face the U23 team of the Northern Mariana Islands in Group D, Thailand will face Malaysia in Group F.
