Sharing at the event "Sound - Music Project for Mental Health Care" held on September 9 in Hanoi, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Duc Minh said that due to the nature of his work, he comes into contact with many patients with insomnia, stress, emotional disorders...
According to this expert, insomnia is increasingly becoming a "modern disease", when many people suffer from chronic insomnia. Most insomniacs tend to abuse sleeping pills.
"Insomniacs often use sedatives, even abuse them. With traditional medicine, when meeting these patients, I always try my best to help them gradually stop depending on sleeping pills, using traditional medicine methods such as acupuncture, massage, acupressure, sound therapy for treatment...", Associate Professor Minh said.

According to this expert, up to now, sound wave therapy has not been included in the system of orthodox treatment techniques, but in traditional medicine, sound wave therapy has long been described in medical literature and applied by traditional medicine practitioners for treatment.
"Sound is considered an "invisible but effective medicine". For thousands of years, our ancestors have used the five tones in ancient music to harmonize the body and mind," said Associate Professor Minh.
Sound therapy has many effects: Helps relieve nervous tension, regulates heart rate and breathing; supports blood circulation, relaxes muscles; leads the mind from agitation to stillness, similar to the process of meditation.
Sleep is one of the key factors that determine quality of life, work productivity and overall health.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 100 million people living in the Western Pacific region (including many Asian countries, including Vietnam) have mental health problems, of which poor sleep quality is a significant contributing factor.
In addition to the pressure of studying and working, the habit of using electronic devices such as phones and tablets right before going to bed is also a cause of sleep disorders.
An unhealthy diet lacking essential nutrients is also one of the often overlooked reasons that causes sleep quality to decline.
Therefore, to improve sleep quality, maintaining scientific living habits, going to bed on time; exercising regularly; and limiting the use of electronic devices is very important.
In addition, you should pay attention to limit or avoid certain foods and drinks that can disrupt your circadian rhythm and sleep quality, such as caffeinated drinks; sugar and processed foods: candy, carbonated soft drinks, fast food, snacks, packaged potato chips, etc.
Limit alcohol and alcoholic beverages; spicy and fatty foods. Also, do not eat too much before bedtime (dinner should be finished at least 2-3 hours before bedtime).
