On September 6, 2025, at the "Conference on connecting import-export goods supply chains and e-commerce in Tay Ninh province 2025", Long An International Port signed two agreements with Portland Port (USA) and Gothenburg Port (Sweden).
It is known that after the merger, Tay Ninh province aims to become a modern industrial, service and urban center; and an international trade gateway of the Southeast region.
In particular, Long An International Port is considered the gateway of the Southern key economic region, the intersection of the logistics corridor in the region, connecting Ho Chi Minh City, the Mekong Delta, the Southeast and internationally.
The Mekong Delta alone is the country’s largest rice, seafood and fruit granary, continuing to play a pivotal role in Vietnam’s agricultural and seafood exports. This signing opens up the potential for businesses to directly bring Vietnamese agricultural products to major ports and important markets such as the US and Northern Europe.
According to the introduction, Gothenburg is currently the largest port in Northern Europe with a history of up to 400 years, the port plays a key role in international trade and industrial competitiveness of Sweden.
Along with that, Portland Port is also known as a major port in the US with 3 airports, 3 operating seaports and 6 industrial parks.

According to a representative of Long An Port, signing the cooperation agreement will also help Vietnam solve current logistics barriers, especially the cost issue.
“Vietnam’s logistics costs currently account for 20-25% of product costs, much higher than the global average, which is a major barrier to competitiveness and requires breakthrough infrastructure and supply chain solutions.
The business community is in dire need of fast, efficient, cost-effective connectivity solutions that meet global standards and practices, so that goods can go directly to the world market,” said Mr. Vo Quoc Huy, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Long An International Port.
Currently, Vietnam has many advantages to become a new logistics center of the region: strategic geographical location with a 3,260km long coastline, a system of deep-water ports and international airports, and a rapidly developing manufacturing and e-commerce economy. The logistics industry has recorded an average growth rate of 14-16%/year, a market size of 45-50 billion USD, the Logistics Performance Index (LPI) ranks 43rd out of 139 countries and territories and 5th out of 10 ASEAN countries.
However, Vietnam’s logistics costs remain high, domestic enterprises are small, unconnected, and heavily dependent on road transport. In particular, logistics activities have a major impact on the environment, such as emissions, noise, and industrial waste. In this context, green logistics is no longer an option, but has become an urgent requirement.
