Beware of Facebook group unlocking services

Not long after, some people quickly opened a service to restore locked groups. Depending on the size of each group, the price asked ranges from a few million to tens of millions of dong.

However, in reality, this incident was a Facebook system error. Speaking to Dan Tri reporters on the morning of June 25, a Meta spokesperson confirmed that a series of Facebook groups in Vietnam had been suspended due to a technical problem.

“We are aware of a technical issue affecting some Facebook groups. We are working to fix this,” a Meta spokesperson said.

By the evening of June 25, many groups had been unlocked and were able to operate normally again. However, many groups were still in a suspended state.

On his personal fanpage, Mr. Ngo Minh Hieu, an expert at the National Cyber ​​Security Monitoring Center (NCSC), recommends that administrators of locked groups should wait for Meta to handle it themselves.

"If you are an admin, you should not submit an appeal to Meta yourself as this may take longer than their processing time. In particular, you should not rely on social media services for help.

They will take your money without doing anything. They can scam you and take your assets. You can lose money and sometimes even your group/fanpage if you hire them to do their services," Mr. Hieu shared.

To date, Meta has not revealed the detailed cause of this incident. According to TechCrunch , the above situation may have originated from Meta's enhanced AI censorship feature.

On the Reddit forum, administrators of Facebook groups affirmed that they always comply with Meta's regulations and regularly censor content considered "sensitive".

Many people even said that their Facebook groups only focus on harmless content such as saving tips, parenting support, groups for cat and dog owners, Pokémon groups, groups for mechanical keyboard enthusiasts...

Tellingly, these people still receive vague violation notices warning about “terrorism-related” or “nude photos” that they claim their group never posted.
