Pakistan's Counter Terrorism Squad (CTD) said it conducted an operation in Washuk district of Balochistan province based on intelligence information regarding the presence of terrorists in a house.
The statement said that during the raid on the house, the terrorists tried to escape by firing at the police. Five terrorists were killed and two escaped during the gunfight between the two sides.
Police also recovered weapons and ammunition from the compound where the Islamic State (IS)-linked terrorists were planning attacks on security forces and civilians. Following the operation, the CTD began a search operation in the area to arrest the fugitives.
In another anti-terror operation in the provincial capital Quetta, Pakistani police rescued a civilian kidnapped two weeks ago and killed three attackers.
Based on intelligence, police also raided the hideouts of terrorists who kidnap for ransom and commit targeted killings.
Pakistan's counter-terrorism forces are currently conducting intensive anti-terror operations in the context of local elections in preparation for the upcoming general elections.
