The new Phong Chau Bridge before its inauguration day

Tomorrow morning (September 28), the new Phong Chau bridge across the Red River (Phu Tho province) will be officially inaugurated, meeting the expectations of people on both banks. This is a key project to be implemented within 9 months, to overcome the collapse of the old Phong Chau bridge that occurred at the end of 2024.

On September 27, according to SGGP reporter, currently, the final items of the new Phong Chau bridge are being urgently completed to prepare for the inauguration ceremony and put into use on September 28.

After 9 months of rapid construction, the Phong Chau Bridge has now been completed. The construction team is currently handling the final stages, gradually dismantling construction vehicles and machinery to prepare for the inauguration and opening day.

The new Phong Chau Bridge will connect Phung Nguyen and Van Xuan communes of Phu Tho province.

The bridge surface is divided into 2 wide lanes, the bridge surface is covered with smooth asphalt. These days, every afternoon, dozens of people on both sides of the bridge, especially the elderly, come out to admire the new bridge.

The bridge is over 653m long, 20.5m wide with 4 lanes for motor vehicles, permanent structure made of reinforced concrete and prestressed reinforced concrete, with a total investment of over 635 billion VND.

The project is invested by Thang Long Project Management Board ( Ministry of Construction ), the construction unit is Army Corps 12 - Truong Son Construction Corporation.

During the construction process, the Army forces, especially the 12th Corps, mobilized maximum human resources and machinery, continuously worked "3 shifts, 4 shifts", "through holidays and Tet", "through the sun, through the rain, and not defeated by storms" to help the project finish three months ahead of schedule.

The bridge is 20.5m wide, has 4 lanes, and is twice as wide as the old Phong Chau bridge.

The new Phong Chau Bridge not only removes infrastructure bottlenecks, but also opens up a driving force for socio -economic development, attracting investment and tourism for Phu Tho province as well as neighboring areas.
