For a long time now, the concrete mixing station of Tan Ha Industrial Joint Stock Company has been blatantly discharging waste into the alluvial land and along the Lo River, causing people to fear pollution.
Discharge openly
According to reporters, for many days now, the concrete mixing station of Tan Ha Industrial Joint Stock Company (located in Tan Ha ward, Tuyen Quang city) has been discharging waste directly into the Lo river, potentially causing environmental pollution.
Specifically, in the area behind the mixing station, adjacent to the riverbed, wastewater is discharged directly or through plastic pipes tens of meters long into the Lo River.
In this area, the Lo River water has turned turbid with the mixture of cement waste.
According to the reporter's observation, the landfill area on the bank of Lo River, the waste cement from the mixing station was dumped, causing the entire area to turn gray and white. It was easy to see that hundreds of cubic meters of concrete and solid waste had been discharged for a long time. Many structures and sealed concrete samples were also dumped directly into the landfill area by this unit.
Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, Chairman of Tan Ha Ward People's Committee, Tuyen Quang City, said he did not yet understand the problem and would send someone to check.
However, when the reporter reported this situation to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Tuyen Quang City, the unit sent people to inspect the scene.
The alluvial land area next to the riverbed behind the factory is covered with hardened cement waste.
During the inspection, a representative of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Tuyen Quang City said: "Tan Ha Industrial Joint Stock Company has environmental records and has wastewater discharge connections. Currently, we will request the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Tuyen Quang Province to take water samples for analysis to see if there is pollution and proceed with treatment."
Talking to reporters, Mr. Phung Anh Tuan, CEO of Tan Ha Industrial Joint Stock Company, said that the wastewater was collected in a settling and filtering tank. However, during operation, the tank was full and overflowed because the workers had not yet dredged it and it overflowed into the river, not because the unit discharged it directly into the river.
"Regarding the issue of dumping waste on the riverbank area, we gather it here to dry, then recycle it by peeling it, crushing it and making bricks."
As for the concrete flowing down to the edge of the Lo River, it was poured by workers on the bank to dry and reuse. However, because the concrete was liquid at that time, it flowed down. This was due to the workers not pouring it according to the correct procedure. The unit will commit to correcting the information recorded by Giao Thong Newspaper reporters," said Mr. Tuan.
People living with dust
According to local residents, not only are Tan Ha Technology Joint Stock Company's cement tankers discharging wastewater and excess concrete into the Lo River, they are also causing serious environmental pollution.
Mr. Nguyen Tuan A. (born in 1967), living on Tan Ha Street, Tan Ha Commune, Tuyen Quang City, expressed his indignation: "Every day, dust from the factory and concrete mixing station of Tan Ha Technology Joint Stock Company flies into the house, seriously affecting the health of the family.
Smoke and dust from the operation of mixing stations and tank trucks cause pollution, affecting the lives of local people.
Just coming home from work, Ms. TTH (born 1987) on Tan Ha street hurriedly went into the house, grabbed a broom and swept in front of the house, saying: "From morning to night, there has been a lot of sand in front of the house. If we don't sweep it for a week, it will be covered with dust. With all this dust, it would be strange if we didn't get sick."
Ms. Hanh, Ms. H’s neighbor, added that there are several sand dump sites in the area, so trucks carrying sand and gravel run day and night. These trucks drive very fast and recklessly, causing a lot of sand to fall onto the road. It is dirty in the rain and dusty in the sun.
Regarding this issue, a representative of the Traffic Police Team of Tuyen Quang City Police also said that previously, the unit had inspected and handled environmental and load issues.
