"Summer Youth Volunteer" Campaign 2025: Young people spread the spirit of volunteerism

After more than 3 months of implementation, the "Summer Youth Volunteer" campaign in 2025 launched by the Da Nang Youth Union has left many impressions with practical and meaningful works and projects.

The activities of the city's youth in the "Summer Youth Volunteer" campaign have spread the spirit of volunteerism, becoming a widespread movement among the youth, creating an environment for training, maturing and dedicating youth to the community.

Towards the difficult highlands

In the recent "Summer Youth Volunteer" campaign, Tra Lien Commune Youth Union has carried out many meaningful activities, such as organizing summer activities for children, planting trees, collecting waste to protect the environment, supporting people in carrying out administrative procedures, visiting and giving gifts to policy families and poor students who have overcome difficulties... Impressively, the unit mobilized union members and youth to contribute 250 working days, supporting house repairs for 2 disadvantaged households, including 1 ethnic minority household and 1 extremely disadvantaged household.

Ms. Huynh Thi Hoa, Secretary of Tra Lien Commune Youth Union, shared: “In this year’s summer volunteer campaign, we especially focus on sharing and accompanying activities with the people. When the houses are solidly repaired, the hands of the union members and youth leave behind not only labor but also affection, companionship and faith for the households to have a more stable life.”

Meanwhile, the Dien Ban Dong Ward Youth Union coordinated to organize the program "Bringing love to the highlands" in Tra Linh commune. The unit carried out many activities such as medical examination, medicine distribution, nutrition and malformation screening for students of Tra Nam Primary School and Tra Nam Kindergarten; presented 250 gifts, totaling 50 million VND, including school bags, school supplies, candy, milk; organized a free milk tea booth for children.

Ms. Ngo Thi Tu Trinh, Secretary of the Youth Union of Dien Ban Dong Ward shared: “The activities are carried out in the spirit of mutual love, both sharing with the people and creating a useful playground for union members and young people. Thereby contributing to fostering the spirit of community cohesion, arousing responsibility and love for the homeland and country in local youth”.

Similarly, the Youth Union of Danang University of Architecture organized a green summer program in Tubhau village, Song Vang commune, with the following activities: donating roofing sheets worth 10 million VND to 2 households; installing a solar lighting system worth 30 million VND, lighting up the countryside roads; donating household appliances worth 4 million VND to the village cultural house; giving 40 gifts to primary school students, each worth 400,000 VND; giving new school bags, notebooks, and uniforms to primary school students, adding motivation to go to school. The Youth Union also composed and presented sketches made by the school's youth union members and youth to the local government.

Building civilized cities

Responding to the "Summer Youth Volunteer" campaign in 2025, there were 192 volunteer teams with more than 15,250 union members and youth participating, carrying out nearly 93 projects and tasks to build civilized urban areas, with a total value of more than 1.15 billion VND.

Specifically, the volunteer team participated in building 15 civilized urban streets according to the criteria of "Bright, green, clean, beautiful, civilized, safe". The Youth Union at all levels implemented many practical activities such as: "Blooming electric pole" model, "Youth flag street"; mobilized to clean up the environment, erase illegal advertisements and classified ads; painted decorations on electric poles; built "Online classified ads and job information boards".

As a result, the union members and youths collected more than 20 tons of waste, cleared more than 12km of sewers, removed more than 20,000 illegal advertising billboards, and planted and restored trees in 125 youth flower beds.

At the same time, the units continue to maintain and replicate effective models such as: "Battery House", "Blooming Electric Pole", "Mural Painting", "Green Sidewalk - Clean Street Corner", and deploy 6 models against plastic waste.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh, a resident of Thanh Khe ward, said: "The volunteer activities of union members and young people not only contribute to making the urban area cleaner and more civilized, but also raise people's awareness of environmental protection."

Secretary of the City Youth Union, Chairman of the City Vietnamese Student Association Le Cong Hung said that the Youth Union at all levels also promoted propaganda, guidance, and support for union members, youths, and people to use online public services and electronic payments; and implemented the "Digital Education for All" movement with many practical contents.

These include training on AI applications at work; consulting and guiding knowledge and skills on digital transformation and intellectual property in agriculture, forestry and fisheries; supporting agricultural restructuring, converting crops and livestock to suit local conditions; training and transferring scientific and technical advances to people.

As of August 27, there were 93 volunteer teams participating, with more than 3,240 union members and youth directly guiding and supporting more than 113,546 people.

"This year's "Summer Youth Volunteer" campaign was exciting and meaningful, attracting 521,550 union members and young people to participate. The green volunteer shirt was present in all localities, especially in areas with many difficulties, spreading the spirit of shock and dedication of Da Nang's youth," said Mr. Le Cong Hung.
