Vinh airport officially closed from July 1, 2025

Accordingly, on June 20, 2025, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam issued Notice No. 2319/CHK-QLC on the temporary closure of Vinh Airport (Vinh Airport) to serve the construction of Package No. 11 of the Project to repair the runway (CHC) and taxiway.

The suspension of operations will start from 0:00 on July 1, 2025 to December 31, 2025.

This is an important part of the infrastructure modernization plan to ensure flight safety and improve operational capacity in the coming time.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requires the Airports Corporation of Vietnam - JSC (ACV) and Vinh Airport to strictly comply with legal regulations on investment and construction. The unit must coordinate with the construction contractor to ensure safety plans, fire prevention and fighting, environmental sanitation and disease prevention during the entire construction period.

This repair project is part of a long-term plan to improve the quality of aviation infrastructure in the Central region, anticipating the future development trend of tourism - logistics - regional connectivity. Once completed, Vinh Airport is expected to better meet the exploitation needs of airlines, creating conditions for Nghe An to increase investment attraction, tourists and regional economic integration.

The temporary closure of Vinh airport will certainly significantly affect the demand for air travel of residents and tourists to Nghe An in the second half of 2025, especially during peak occasions such as National Day September 2, Christmas and the end of the year. Airlines will adjust schedules, guide passengers to change or refund tickets, and recommend people to consider using neighboring airports instead.
