'Final' increase in pension and social insurance benefits by 15%

The Government 's recently issued decree states a 15% increase in pensions and social insurance benefits based on the June 2024 benefit level.

Salary increase for retirees before 1995

In particular, those receiving pensions, disability benefits and monthly benefits before January 1, 1995, after the 15% increase but the benefit level is still lower than 3.2 million VND/month, will be increased by 300,000 VND/person/month. Similarly, those receiving from 3.2 million VND/month to less than 3.5 million VND/month will be increased to 3.5 million VND/month.

This will be the highest increase ever. The scope applies to more than 3.3 million people including those who have participated in compulsory and voluntary social insurance.

According to Vietnam Social Security, from 1995 to the end of 2023, the National Assembly and the Government have adjusted pensions 23 times. Accordingly, pensions increased from 21-26 times compared to pensions in 1995.

In addition, pensions do not remain unchanged but periodically increase according to the consumer price index and economic growth in accordance with the state budget and social insurance fund.

In addition to the monthly pension, beneficiaries are also given a free health insurance card, with benefits from the health insurance fund reaching up to 95%.

Groups with specific salary increases and benefits

Cadres, civil servants, workers, public employees, laborers, soldiers, police officers and people doing key work who are receiving monthly pensions.

Commune, ward and town level officials are prescribed in Government decrees including decrees No. 33-2023, 34-2019, 92-2009, 121-2003, 09-1998.

People receiving monthly disability benefits according to the law; people receiving monthly benefits according to Prime Minister's Decision No. 91-2000, Decision No. 613-2010.

Rubber workers are receiving monthly allowances according to Decision No. 206-1979 of the Government Council.

Commune, ward and town officials are receiving monthly allowances according to Decision No. 130-1975 of the Government Council supplementing policies and treatment regimes for commune officials and Decision No. 111-1981 of the Council of Ministers.

Military personnel are receiving monthly allowances according to Prime Minister's Decision No. 142-2008 and Prime Minister's Decision No. 38-2010.

People's Public Security is receiving monthly allowance according to Decision No. 53-2010 of the Prime Minister.

Military personnel, people's police, and people working in secretarial work receiving salaries like military personnel and people's police are receiving monthly allowances according to Decision No. 62-2011 of the Prime Minister.

People receiving monthly occupational accident and disease benefits.

People receiving monthly pension benefits before January 1, 1995.

The above subjects received pension, social insurance benefits, monthly allowances before January 1, 1995, after adjustment, pension, social insurance benefits, monthly allowances are less than 3.5 million VND/month.
