Investor "cries for help" because people "break the fence" to cross Dai Ngai 2 bridge

People arbitrarily removed fences, installed planks on the bridge, climbed over, and entered the bridge to sell goods on the street, forcing the investor of the Dai Ngai 2 bridge project to "call for help" from the local authorities to help ensure safety, security and order.

On August 15, information from Project Management Board 85 ( Ministry of Construction ), the investor of Dai Ngai 2 Bridge project, said that it had sent a document to the local government requesting support in propaganda and mobilizing people not to enter the Dai Ngai 2 Bridge construction site on National Highway 60 without permission.

Project Management Board 85 said that the main bridge section of Dai Ngai 2 Bridge has been completed, connecting the bank of Dai Ngai Commune with An Thanh Commune ( Can Tho ). However, the road section at both ends of the bridge is in the loading period waiting for subsidence, must wait for the subsidence to stop before constructing the road surface foundation and auxiliary works.

Previously, on August 1, the main bridge of Dai Ngai 2 bridge was temporarily opened to traffic for 3 days and has been closed until now. After that, the investor and contractor have fully arranged warning systems and barriers (signs, reflective tapes, hard dividers...) to prevent unauthorized people from entering the construction area and from going up the bridge.

However, the situation of people arbitrarily removing barriers, organizing street vendors in the construction site, installing ramps to bring motorbikes and bicycles across the bridge, climbing and standing on steel railings... still occurs frequently. Although the contractor has arranged staff to remind and persuade, due to the large number of people on the bridge, it is impossible to prevent it, posing many potential risks of insecurity, loss of public property and affecting security and order.

Faced with the above situation, Project Management Board 85 requested local authorities and police forces to coordinate in mobilizing and propagating so that people do not go on the bridge or enter the construction site.

Mr. Huynh Thanh An, Chairman of An Thanh Commune, Can Tho City, said that the locality has directed relevant units to deploy many solutions to prevent, strengthen propaganda, and mobilize people not to arbitrarily enter the construction site of Dai Ngai 2 Bridge.

In addition, the Commune People's Committee has also requested Project Management Board 85 to support the installation of warning signs in prohibited areas at the bridge construction site; the police force should increase patrols in prohibited areas; when detecting cases of arbitrarily dismantling barriers to enter the construction site and organizing street vending within the construction site, they should promptly prevent, remind and strictly handle according to regulations.
