Delighted to welcome the British Prime Minister's Trade Envoy Matt Western to visit and work at the National Assembly, Permanent Deputy Chairman of the Economic and Financial Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam - UK NSHN Group Le Quang Manh was pleased to see that the relationship between the two countries has increasingly deepened and become more effective with strong developments, in line with the Strategic Partnership. The two countries also cooperate closely at multilateral forums and on global issues.

Thanking the Chairman of the Vietnam - UK NSHN Group for taking the time to meet him, Mr. Matt Western said that this was his first official visit to Vietnam as a special envoy of the British Prime Minister ; he expressed his deep impression of the dynamism, friendliness and warmth of the Vietnamese people and said that during this visit he met many partners who were leaders of agencies, localities as well as Vietnamese enterprises.

In 2025, the Vietnam-UK relationship marks the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Strategic Partnership (2010-2025). Both sides agreed that the cooperation relationship between the two countries still has a lot of room for development, especially in the fields of economics, trade and investment.

At the meeting, the two sides discussed issues of mutual concern, including the content related to the international financial center in Vietnam. Accordingly, on June 27, 2025, at the Ninth Session, the Vietnamese National Assembly passed the Resolution on the International Financial Center in Vietnam. Currently, the Government and ministries and branches are urgently developing and promulgating a series of circulars and decrees guiding the implementation of this Resolution, including policies related to taxes, specialized courts in the international financial center, international arbitration, etc.
Mr. Matt Western affirmed that the UK is ready to share experience, provide technical support and cooperate closely with Vietnamese agencies in building an international financial center.
