The working group surveyed key projects including investment in expanding Phu Quoc International Airport; Provincial Road 975 (section from Provincial Road 973 - Phu Quoc Airport - Provincial Road 975 - Provincial Road 973) and urban metro line section 1; Suoi Lon Lake resettlement project; APEC Avenue; embankment construction and site leveling for the construction of the APEC conference center and functional works; mixed-use urban area - Dat Do beach; Sun Group International Hospital.
The Phu Quoc International Airport expansion project was approved with a total capital of nearly VND22,000 billion, total scale of 1,050 hectares. After completion, the capacity will increase to 20 million passengers per year, 4.5 times higher than the current capacity, meeting level 4E standards according to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), aiming to become one of the leading smart and modern airports in the region.
The main items of the project include expanding runway 1, building a new runway 2, passenger terminal T2 and VIP terminal.
This is considered a key project to ensure progress in serving the APEC 2027 Conference, while realizing the goal of turning Phu Quoc into a center of marine economy , smart city and sustainable eco-tourism.

According to the People's Committee of Phu Quoc Special Zone, the demand for resettlement land to serve the site clearance for 77 projects in the area is about 13,479 plots, of which 21 projects serving the APEC 2027 conference need about 3,664 plots. The investment in the construction of 4 resettlement areas is expected to create a land fund of about 9,400 plots (An Thoi 1,200 plots, Suoi Lon Lake 900 plots, Cua Can 3,500 plots, Ham Ninh 3,800 plots), not only serving APEC 2027, but also supporting other socio-economic development projects.
The APEC Avenue project is about 2.7 km long, with a total affected area of 23.83 hectares, the area recovered from households is expected to be 12.1 hectares (affecting 190 plots of land, 230 houses), the remaining 6.4 hectares is state-managed land.
The Provincial People's Committee has issued 9/9 orders for urgent construction works according to Appendix I (list of public investment projects) in Decision 948/QD-TTg, dated May 17, 2025 of the Prime Minister on assigning tasks to prepare conditions and implement a number of measures to quickly deploy projects serving the APEC 2027 Conference in Phu Quoc City (now Phu Quoc special zone).
The Provincial People's Committee has assigned the Department of Finance, the agency preparing the PPP project, to prepare a pre-feasibility study report for the project and submit it to the Provincial People's Committee and the appraisal council. It is expected that the project proposal will be completed in August 2025.

The Provincial People's Committee has completed the selection of investors and granted approval decisions to 3/11 projects according to Appendix II (list of investment projects under the public-private partnership (PPP) and business investment methods) in Decision 948/QD-TTg, dated May 17, 2025 of the Prime Minister.
For 7/11 projects, the Phu Quoc Economic Zone Management Board has prepared a plan to select investors in special cases and sent it to the Department of Finance for appraisal. For the APEC 2027 Conference Center project, the Department of Finance has submitted a report to the Provincial People's Committee, proposing to assign the Department of Construction to prepare a feasibility study report, submit it to the appraisal council and the Prime Minister for consideration and decision to select investors in special cases according to the Law on Investment under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) method.
According to the plan of the Provincial People's Committee, there are currently 3/21 projects ahead of schedule (with results of investor selection).

Speaking at the working session after the survey and inspection, Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung emphasized that the preparation for the APEC Summit 2027 is an extremely important task, directed by the Central leaders and ministries and branches, closely coordinating with An Giang province in implementing projects and preparation work.
He affirmed that this is both an honor and a great responsibility of An Giang province, requiring scientific, urgent and effective direction and management to complete the huge amount of work that has been set out.
Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung said that not only focusing on implementing infrastructure projects but also paying attention to many other important preparations, ensuring the progress and quality of serving the APEC 2027 Conference. Departments, branches and Phu Quoc special zone authorities carefully study the recommendations, coordinate closely, and discuss with Sun Group to promptly remove obstacles.
