Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee works with Phu Quy district

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Doan Anh Dung spoke at the working session with the People's Committee of Phu Quy district.

At the working session , Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Phu Quy district Le Quang Vinh said that in 2023, the district's socio -economic situation continued to develop, national defense and security were maintained and stable; socio-economic targets in 2023 met the set plan. Notably, it attracted nearly 170,000 tourists to the locality for sightseeing and tourism , an increase of over 71,200 over the same period; of which international visitors reached over 2,400; seafood exploitation output was 31,166 tons, reaching 103.89% of the plan; trade and services met people's shopping needs, there was no shortage of goods or price fever. Local budget revenue was over 40 billion VND...

Besides the achieved results, Phu Quy has not yet fully exploited its potential and advantages , has not fully exploited its strengths in exploiting and processing seafood, increasing the added value of key products; tourism activities are still small and spontaneous, products are not diverse, have not stimulated tourists' spending, and there is a lack of entertainment activities ; the implementation of the district's planning is still slow, especially the adjustment of the general urban planning of Phu Quy district has not been approved yet; land and environmental management is not really strict, and has not completely resolved the issue of spontaneous construction on agricultural land...

At the meeting, Phu Quy district requested the leaders of the Provincial People's Committee to direct the early implementation of investment in anti-erosion embankments in the North of the island and a system of freshwater reservoirs to ensure water sources for daily life . At the same time , invest in a domestic wastewater treatment system to avoid affecting the underground water source in the long term. The district leaders also requested the departments and branches to guide and remove some difficulties and shortcomings in tourism such as: Granting operating routes for canoe and soup boat services; The Management Board of Investment and Construction of Agricultural and Rural Development Projects to soon implement phase 2 of the project to upgrade and expand the belt road surrounding Phu Quy island (Tran Hung Dao route)...

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Doan Anh Dung highly appreciated the results that Phu Quy district has achieved in the past time . Regarding the tasks in the coming time, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested to urgently overcome difficulties and limitations, remove bottlenecks, maximize existing potentials and advantages to develop the economy - society, closely linked with ensuring national defense and security, maintaining national sovereignty, improving the material and spiritual life of the people. And affirmed that the locality needs to urgently coordinate with functional branches to remove obstacles, soon submit to the Provincial People's Committee for approval the adjustment of the general urban planning of Phu Quy district, as a basis to attract capable investors to invest in the locality...

Along with that, Phu Quy needs to strengthen management, not allowing people to build coastal works to create a clear sea surface; prioritize early investment in roads around the island. Quickly deploy the project to expand diesel power capacity; attract renewable energy projects, at the same time, encourage people to install rooftop solar panels to proactively source electricity. Regarding the issue of clean water for daily life, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee said that in the long term, it will be very difficult due to the increasing population density and the increasing number of tourists, therefore, relevant departments and branches need to pay attention to supporting Phu Quy to invest in water pumps; build water reservoirs.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee noted that Phu Quy has solutions to handle the situation of discharging wastewater directly into the sea in the seafood production and processing areas and by the people. At the same time, promote propaganda to encourage tourists, people and businesses not to use plastic bags and disposable plastic products, to ensure the living environment on the island and maintain the image of Phu Quy tourism as green - clean - beautiful.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that tourism is a field with a lot of potential, a strength of the island district. To take advantage of opportunities, effectively exploit this potential and strength, and turn it into a driving force for comprehensive socio-economic development, Phu Quy needs to strictly manage planning, especially construction and land use planning; strictly handle cases of construction not in accordance with planning, and not let illegal construction happen. Invest in renovating scenic spots and public beaches, preserving the wildness to attract tourists.
