Preparing to resume construction on Cho Moi - Bac Kan highway after floods

At the Cho Moi - Bac Kan Expressway Project - an important national project, a key project of the transport sector, after heavy rain and flooding in Thai Nguyen province on the night of October 8, talking to a reporter from Vietnam News Agency, Mr. Mac Van Nghiep, Executive Director of the Cho Moi - Bac Kan Expressway Project, said that the Project Management Board and contractors were ready to resume construction after the rain stopped for 1-2 days.

“According to experience in the project area, the construction site has a flood period, after the rain only about 1-2 days, the contractors will also basically construct the service road, drainage to ensure according to terrain conditions,” Mr. Mac Van Nghiep shared.

Currently, the Project Management Board and contractors are ready to start construction immediately after the rain stops for 1-2 days; in low-lying areas after 3 days of water receding, all 24 construction points will be implemented normally as planned. The Board is also actively coordinating with the locality to handle remaining problems. When the weather is sunny, at least 6 more bridge construction points and 12 road construction points will be opened to speed up the progress, with overtime, shifts, and night work to make up for the lost time.

Previously, implementing the direction of the Prime Minister and the Minister of Construction in preventing and fighting storms and floods according to the "prevention and fighting" plan from afar, in advance, to minimize the impact of storms and floods on project construction organization.

Therefore, immediately after receiving information on the mass media system, the Construction Management Board of Project Management Board 2 coordinated with the Management Boards of the contractor consortium and the consulting offices to proactively review the site, complete the unfinished items to the maximum, move people and machines to high, safe locations... proactively monitor the flood developments of Quan stream and Cau river to promptly respond.

On the other hand, because the route follows two local roads including Provincial Road 259 and Dong Song Cau Road, the Management Board has requested construction units to be on duty and have machines and equipment ready to support the locality in handling landslides and slides when required, ensuring smooth traffic on roads near the project.

According to statistics, up to now, there has been no recorded material impact of the project, nor any impact on farming or the lives of people in the surrounding areas. The Contractor is on duty to ensure traffic on some local dirt roads to support people in ensuring their lives during and after the flood.

The Cho Moi - Bac Kan Expressway Project is nearly 29 km long, connecting the Thai Nguyen - Cho Moi route, and is an important national project, a key project in the transport sector. The project is invested by Project Management Board 2, and the construction contractor is a consortium of Phuong Thanh Transport Construction Investment Joint Stock Company, Deo Ca Construction Joint Stock Company, Truong Son Construction Corporation, and Deo Ca Group Joint Stock Company.
