The story of the peace keeper

With outstanding achievements in implementing the special emulation movement to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the People's Public Security Traditional Day and the 20th anniversary of the National Security Protection Day, Major Chau Cong Bang, an officer of the Regional Police Team, Vinh Tuong Commune Police, was honored to be one of 130 individuals who have just received a certificate of merit from the Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee.

Identifying the special emulation movement as an opportunity to affirm the role and responsibility of the police force in people's lives, Major Bang has built a specific and realistic action plan. He and his teammates regularly screen subjects with criminal records, risk of reoffending; monitor unusual gatherings; publicize the hotline numbers of the commune and individuals for people to report when they discover incidents that cause disorder and insecurity. It is this closeness to the people, understanding the people and working for the people that has helped him promptly detect and prevent many complicated incidents from the beginning.

In the remote commune of Vinh Tuong, the image of a gentle, friendly police officer who is always present in time whenever a complicated incident occurs has become familiar. He is closely attached to the grassroots in the true sense of the word "going to every alley, knocking on every door, checking every subject", closely following the hot spots of public order and safety to proactively advise and propose measures to prevent crime early and from afar.

During the special emulation period (August 19, 2024 - August 19, 2025), Major Bang advised and coordinated with the force to destroy 10 social evils with 57 subjects; 2 cases of storing and organizing illegal drug use with 3 subjects. Not only fighting against crime, Major Bang also did a good job in administrative management. He received and resolved administrative procedure files related to the field of registration and residence management of 855 cases; coordinated with teammates to conduct more than 80 armed patrols, 85 traffic patrols, thereby detecting 4 cases of using electric shocks to illegally exploit aquatic products, 15 cases of violating traffic safety and order; participated in receiving and resolving 17 incidents related to security and order occurring in the area.

Sharing about his upcoming mission, Major Bang said: "I will continue to closely follow the area and subjects, coordinate to promote legal propaganda and resolutely crack down on incidents that disrupt security and order, contributing to maintaining local stability."

Referring to Major Bang, Lieutenant Colonel Huynh Phan Vien Phuong, Deputy Chief of Vinh Tuong Commune Police, commented: "With his assigned tasks, Major Chau Cong Bang is very active, responsible, always promptly advising and proposing to handle complicated cases. He has completed all assigned tasks well, setting an example for officers and soldiers to learn from."

Simple, close to the people, and close to the grassroots, Major Chau Cong Bang has been contributing to spreading the spirit of responsibility "for a peaceful life, for the happiness of the people". His achievements are vivid proof of the effectiveness of the special emulation movement, affirming the role of the "steel shield" of the grassroots police force in maintaining peace in every alley and every house.
