The baby girl abandoned at 3 days old and her journey to conquer her university dream

The young girl's university dream has been rekindled thanks to the "Wings of Dreams" Scholarship.

As a girl adopted and raised by a disabled man, Ngo Thi Thuy Trang's (HCMC) life turned a new page with the journey ahead with the Professional Communication program at RMIT Vietnam.

Trang’s life story is one of extraordinary resilience. Abandoned by her biological mother when she was only 3 days old, Trang was raised and educated by her loving father, despite her physical disability, who devoted his life to giving her the best he could. Working as a tailor at Maison Chance, a social protection center for the disabled and orphans, her adoptive father was her great source of strength.

“I don’t have a complete family, but in return, my father loves me very much and tries his best to raise me,” Trang emotionally shared with gratitude. This unconditional love is the driving force that pushes the young girl to move forward despite all obstacles.

For Trang, university was a dream out of reach due to financial constraints. But the RMIT-Maison Chance Scholarship changed everything.

“When I heard about this scholarship, my dream of going to university was rekindled,” the young girl shared.

Trang’s strong academic record in high school made her a strong candidate for the scholarship. But it was her determination and commitment to giving back to the community that really set her apart.

“Trang has faced many difficulties due to being abandoned since birth, but she is still optimistic and lives in harmony with everyone,” said a representative of Maison Chance. “Although her family is not well off, Trang still studies hard and never stops striving.”

The young girl's desire to study Professional Communications stemmed from her desire to make a difference.

“With the knowledge and skills I will accumulate from my university degree in the coming time, I will give back by helping Maison Chance become more known to more people as well as supporting more difficult situations,” Trang shared.

The moment of receiving the scholarship confirmation letter was a moment filled with joy.

“I received the news early in the morning and was overwhelmed with emotion when I shared the good news with my father,” Trang recalled.

The young girl is very excited about the upcoming journey, starting with 1 year of studying English to prepare a solid foundation for her future education as well as to work in an international environment in the future.

On her journey to a new chapter of her life, Trang carries with her her father’s dream, the support of the community and the potential to create lasting change.
