Opportunities of carbon credits for Vietnamese enterprises seen from greening pressure

(Dan Tri) - In the increasingly high international demand for greening, carbon credits not only create pressure for sustainable development according to global commitments for businesses but also bring opportunities to increase sustainable income for pioneering units.

Based on the agreements reached at the 26th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26), to reduce greenhouse gases in accordance with climate commitments, especially towards the goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050, many countries, including Vietnam, are actively building and developing carbon markets.

Carbon markets involve transactions involving greenhouse gas emission quotas and carbon credits, created through trading and offset mechanisms under the provisions of international agreements. This is where countries with lower emissions than their committed targets can sell, transfer or buy emissions rights from countries that exceed their emissions.

In which, carbon credit is understood as a tradable permit or certificate, representing 1 ton of CO2 or an equivalent amount of other greenhouse gases.

The increasing demand for carbon credits globally has fueled the strong growth of this market. In Vietnam, the development of the carbon market not only supports businesses in taking advantage of opportunities in their journey to implement their emission reduction commitments, but also opens up significant income potential if they have an effective investment strategy in carbon credits.

As part of the series of talks "Talk GreenBiz - Green Growth Compass", the online talk show with the theme "Carbon Credits - New Opportunities from Green Pressure" was organized by Dan Tri newspaper in collaboration with the Green Future Fund to provide updated information, action orientation and support businesses in adapting to carbon pricing mechanisms that are rapidly forming both internationally and domestically.

Or how the carbon market can become a fair playing field for small businesses, where carbon credits provide opportunities to increase business income alongside the pressure for sustainable development according to global commitments?
