On his personal page, Tran Trung Duy - son of writer Quynh Dao - wrote: "Our most beloved mother, grandmother and everyone's 'aunt Quynh Dao' said goodbye on December 4, 2024. As my mother said, she was waiting for the time to decide her own life, freedom and start another journey."
Previously, writer Quynh Dao's son was sad and did not speak to the media when receiving his mother's body from the authorities.
According to Sinchew , her body will be cremated on the afternoon of December 6 and buried in Yangmingshan, Taipei (China) on December 9. Before her death, Quynh Dao told her son and daughter-in-law to hold a simple funeral and not have a public memorial service or farewell activities in front of the media. The family hopes to respect their privacy.
Writer Quynh Dao passed away on December 4 at her home in New Taipei City (Taiwan), at the age of 86. Before passing away, the female writer left a suicide note to her son and a haunting message: "I do not want to resign myself to fate, do not want time to make me barren. I wish to have the right to decide my fate for this last time."
After passing away, writer Quynh Dao left behind a huge fortune estimated at 2.5 billion yuan (about 9,000 billion VND).
