(BGDT) - On June 6, the Investigation Police Agency of Luc Ngan District Police issued a decision to temporarily detain Do Van Thai (born 1990), residing in Phuc Thanh village, Quy Son commune, for fraud and property appropriation.

Through investigation, it was determined that in April 2023, Do Van Thai posted on social media about having acacia wood forest for sale to those in need. Anyone who wanted to buy Thai acacia would bring it to a land where acacia trees were harvested and claim it as their own to gain the buyer's trust, then ask the buyer to deposit a sum of money.

After the buyer made a deposit, Thai took advantage of it to appropriate that amount. Using the above trick, from April to May 2023, Thai took advantage of the trust to appropriate over 300 million VND from people who wanted to buy acacia trees.
