The 2023 Wimbledon tennis tournament will have a total prize money of up to 44.7 million pounds ($56.52 million).

The bonus is an 11.2% increase compared to the 2022 season bonus and is the highest ever.

According to the announcement from the tournament organizers All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC), the winners and losers of the men's and women's singles finals will also receive prize money corresponding to the 2019 prize money, worth 2.35 million pounds and 1.175 million pounds respectively.

The prize money for winners drops to £1.7 million in 2021 before rising to £2 million in 2022.

Qualifying prize money is also up 14.5% from 2022, while first-round eliminations are guaranteed a minimum of £55,000, up 10% from last year.

AELTC President Ian Hewitt said the aim of increasing the prize money is to restore the prize money for tennis players to the same level as in 2019 before the Covid-19 pandemic broke out.

Wimbledon is the oldest and most prestigious tennis tournament in the world , one of the four Grand Slam tournaments of this sport. The tournament has been held at the All England Club in Wimbledon, London since 1877.
