As of March 4, at least 50 universities have announced that they will use IELTS certificates in admissions this year. Each school will have its own admission methods and criteria.
This year, the Academy of Journalism and Communication plans to reserve 15% of its admission quota for candidates with an international English certificate equivalent to IELTS 6.5 or higher, a minimum SAT certificate of 1200/1600, an average GPA of 5 semesters of high school from 7.0 or higher, and good conduct in high school (excluding semester II of grade 12).
Candidates applying for training programs in group 1: Journalism major must have an average score of 5 semesters of Literature in high school (not including semester II of grade 12) of at least 7 or higher. Candidates applying for training programs in group 4, Sociology major, Publishing major, Publishing Editing major in group 2 must have an average score of 5 semesters of English in high school (not including semester II of grade 12) of at least 7 or higher.
Cryptography Academy only considers admission based on high school graduation exam scores. The school does not convert but gives priority points to candidates with IELTS 5.5 or higher. The added points range from 1.5 to 2.5 points, an increase of 0.5 points compared to last year.
When directly admitting candidates from the national excellent student competition team and students from specialized schools, Hanoi National University of Education adds 1 to 3 priority points for those with IELTS from 6.5.
The University of Foreign Languages , Vietnam National University, Hanoi, enrolls 2,350 students, an increase of 400 compared to 2023. With the admission method using foreign language certificates, the school considers candidates with a VSTEP certificate (an English proficiency test according to the 6-level foreign language proficiency framework for Vietnam) from B2 or higher, organized by the school; candidates with an IELTS English certificate from 5.5, TOEFL iBT from 72 or other international foreign language certificates from B2 or higher.
These candidates must have a total graduation exam score of the remaining two subjects in the admission combination of 14 points or higher (Math or Literature required).
In addition, the school considers candidates with A-Level certificates with three subjects (Math or Literature required) according to combinations, achieving 60/100 points for each subject, SAT score from 1100/1600, ACT score from 22/36 or higher.
