Lieutenant Colonel Pham Thanh Son, Deputy Chief of Lien Chieu Ward Police, said that in the ward there are many schools located on key routes with high traffic volume such as Au Co Primary School, Nguyen Ba Phat Secondary School, Nguyen Luong Bang Secondary School, etc.
These are areas where traffic jams often occur during rush hours. Since the application of the “Safe School Gate” model, traffic conditions have improved significantly. Previously, at the end of school hours, parents often crowded and parked their cars on the road, causing traffic jams. Since the police, union members, and youths have coordinated with the school to direct traffic and provide reminders, the chaos has significantly decreased, and picking up and dropping off children has become safer.
To achieve the above results, the Ward Police coordinated with the school board, parents and students to strictly comply with the Road Traffic Law, assigned police and military forces, youth union members, residential groups and departments, branches and organizations to participate in tasks at schools during rush hours.
Authorities also strictly handle street vending and illegal use of sidewalks in school areas and on key routes.
In Ba Na commune, Lieutenant Colonel Tran Quang Minh, Head of Commune Police, said that the model was deployed from the old Hoa Vang District Police, each school has a coordination team including youth union members, teachers, militia and self-defense forces, and local police.
Members are divided into many shifts to remind and guide parents to stop and park their vehicles in the right places, and at the same time assist students to cross the street in order, ensuring order and safety. In addition, propaganda on wearing helmets properly is also regularly deployed.
Ms. Le Thi Hong Tuyet, Secretary of the Youth Union of Ba Na commune, said: "With the spirit of volunteering, union members and youth always accompany the commune police in directing traffic and guiding parents to pick up and drop off students.
The model "For a peaceful school gate" will be maintained regularly, thereby promoting the role and responsibility of young people in building a safe, civilized and friendly school environment.
In mountainous communes such as Tien Phuoc, Son Cam Ha..., the model has also been replicated, contributing to raising awareness of parents, teachers and students in complying with the Road Traffic Law.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Huynh Ngoc Tuyen, Chief of Son Cam Ha Commune Police, the entire commune currently has 11 schools of all levels from kindergarten, primary to secondary school. Through the model, the commune police not only ensure order and traffic safety but also contribute to forming habits and awareness of law compliance for students right from when they are still in school.
It can be seen that the "Safe School Gate" model has been promoting positive effects, becoming a bright spot in the work of ensuring school traffic safety.
