Food Safety Department "speaks out" about Hai Be Appetite Syrup product

On the afternoon of June 17, the Department of Food Safety (ATTP), Ministry of Health issued a warning about the health protection food product Hai Be Delicious Syrup of Hai Be Company Limited (in Thanh Tay village, Van Phu commune, Nho Quan district, Ninh Binh) after Ninh Binh Provincial Police initiated a criminal case and prosecuted Tran Dai Phuc, Director of Hai Be Company Limited and Le Van Hai (owner of the Tiktok social network account "Gia Dinh Hai Sen"), co-founder of the company for the act of "Trading in fake food products".

Hai Be Appetizer Syrup product is widely advertised on social networks.

Accordingly, the Food Safety Department cited information from the Ninh Binh Provincial Police Department on the appraisal results of the quality indicators of the Hai Be Appetite Syrup product announced by Hai Be Company Limited, responsible for product quality, which determined: substances including Vitamin A, Calcium, Vitamin C (the main substances that create the product's effects) only reached less than 70% compared to the announcement.

Meanwhile, the Hai Be Appetizer Syrup product has been granted by the Food Safety Department the Product Declaration Registration Acceptance Certificate No. 1121/2024/DKSP dated January 30, 2024 and Advertising Content Confirmation Certificate No. 1121/2024/XNQC-ATTP dated June 7, 2024 for Hai Be Company Limited. On that basis, the Food Safety Department recommends that people should not use the Hai Be Appetizer Syrup product while the authorities are verifying the incident.

Recently, Ninh Binh Provincial Police discovered that Le Van Hai’s TikTok social network account “Gia Dinh Hai Sen” regularly posted videos selling cosmetics and functional foods. Among them, there was the health protection food Hai Be Delicious Syrup which received many negative feedbacks from consumers about the product quality.

During an inspection of Hai Be Company Limited, the police discovered and seized cosmetic and functional food products without full invoices and documents proving their origin.

Initially, the police agency determined that from 2024 to present, Hai Be Company Limited has sold more than 800,000 products through social networking platforms (TikTok shop, Facebook, Shopee "Gia Dinh Hai Sen", "Hai Sen"); Hai Be delicious syrup alone sold to the market in quantity of over 100,000 boxes.
