According to information from the hospital, the baby's mother suffered from a urinary tract infection and went into premature labor at only 27 weeks of pregnancy. The baby was born in a state of severe respiratory failure and had to be put on a ventilator immediately to survive.
MSc. Nguyen To Na, Phuong Nam Hospital, said the baby was immediately transferred to the intensive care unit after being stabilized. However, the baby's lungs gradually worsened, forcing him to be intubated with high ventilator parameters. "Luckily, the baby was given lung support medication early, less than 6 hours after birth (the golden time), so the medication was most effective," Dr. To Na shared.
During more than 50 days of treatment, the NICU team was on duty 24/7 to treat the main disease, while preventing common complications in premature babies such as infection, brain hemorrhage, retinal...
The baby is now fully breastfed, no premature complications have been recorded, and the retinal development is normal (10/10). Weight, length, and head circumference are all within the range of a full-term baby. The baby has been transferred to the inpatient ward for further monitoring.

According to Master-Doctor Nguyen To Na, extremely premature babies are susceptible to dangerous complications such as respiratory failure, hypothermia, hemodynamic disorders... especially if they have to be transported long distances. Therefore, early, professional treatment and intensive care on the spot play a vital role.
