Speaking to NBC News before a rally in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, former President Trump confirmed that he had made a decision on his running mate.
"Yes, I have," Mr. Trump replied to the question of whether he had chosen a "vice president" yet.
When asked if the nominee knew, the Republican presidential candidate replied: "No, no one knows."
The process of selecting a running mate for Mr Trump in the 2024 US election has accelerated in recent weeks, with some candidates receiving vetting materials from the Republican candidate's campaign.
Mr. Trump said he would probably announce his choice at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, next month.

Sources familiar with the matter told The Hill that the leading candidates for Mr. Trump's pick are North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, Senator JD Vance (Ohio) and Senator Marco Rubio (Florida).
Others who received the document and are under consideration include Sen. Tim Scott (South Carolina), Sen. Tom Cotton (Arkansas), Rep. Elise Stefanik (New York), Rep. Byron Donalds (Florida) and former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson.
