TPO - In order to enhance cultural and artistic activities, promote educational activities, and raise aesthetic awareness for young people, Ho Chi Minh City National University organizes a series of concerts "Youth Symphony" for students. This is the first time Ho Chi Minh City National University has organized this series of programs with the desire to raise young people's understanding and awareness of musical arts.

The first concert took place on the afternoon of January 10 at the Great Hall of the HCM City National University Administration with the theme "Colors of Symphony", attracting a large number of staff, lecturers and students to watch. Besides enjoying famous classical music works, teachers and students were shared by this famous conductor about the symphony orchestra, the instruments in the orchestra as well as information about the works performed.

Sharing in the first performance, conductor Tran Nhat Minh said that he was lucky to have a family that guided him towards art, to have a foundation and a deep love for music, and he dreams of sharing this happiness with everyone, together with artists and colleagues.

“In the seven concerts, we will perform different themes but the main theme is the love for music,” said the 44-year-old conductor.

Fully enjoying the symphony concert, Thao Nguyen - a student at the University of Economics and Law (VNU-HCM) said that she had only listened to youthful genres like V-pop before and this was the first time she had seen a live concert.

“When the musicians and singers sang or the instruments played, I got goosebumps because the sounds were so real. When the artists sang, it brought a unique feeling, from melodious to heroic, poetic, romantic. This was a very interesting experience,” Thao Nguyen shared and said that if she had the chance, she would continue to participate.

Associate Professor Dr. Vu Hai Quan (third from left) - Director of Ho Chi Minh City National University said that the combination of music and science not only opens up profound understanding of nature and the human brain but also brings applications in education, science, technology and health.

Mr. Quan hopes that teachers and young people will feel the most important value that music brings to people, which is the ability to connect and sublimate emotions. “Music overcomes all barriers of language, culture and time, creating empathy and connection between individuals, communities and generations. It also connects emotions and nourishes the soul,” said Associate Professor Dr. Vu Hai Quan.

Enjoy opera, Broadway, Jazz

The “Youth Symphony” concert series includes 7 performances held from January to July 2025 at VNU-HCM and other training facilities. Each program will have a different theme and content in the way of performance and interpretation, helping the audience have the opportunity to more deeply appreciate the beauty of musical genres.

In 7 programs, students will be introduced to and enjoy performances of genres such as symphony, opera, Broadway, Jazz... Conductor Tran Nhat Minh along with colleagues from Saigon Festival Orchestra, Saigon Winds, Impact Theatre Saigon and leading artists in the field of classical music will accompany and provide professional support for the series of programs.
