The pressure of the first exam in college
TT (HCMC), a new student at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education, said he is devoting all his energy to reviewing English, preparing for the stressful exam.
"The exam results will affect class placement and course exemption, so I'm quite worried," T. shared.

For many students, despite having passed the difficult high school entrance exam, the pressure from the English entrance exam is still not small.
"Even though I know English is very important, thinking about having to take the exam right after entering school makes me very tired," confided Pham Duy, who was admitted to Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport.
This concern is also a common concern of many new students, especially those who are not too confident in their foreign language ability.
TM ( Dong Thap ), a freshman at Ho Chi Minh City National University, called this exam a "nightmare".
"Because I registered for the wrong choice, I got into a school with quite high English requirements. Now I have to study urgently, I feel a lot of pressure," M. confided.
Many universities test English entrance exam
The English entrance test is not a new regulation, and is increasingly being focused on by universities. The main purpose is to classify levels, thereby orienting a suitable English learning path, helping students meet the school's output standards.
National Economics University tests English and classifies the level of new students of the 67th course to advise and guide students in learning English to meet the school's output standards. The test will be on a computer from September 7 to 12.
Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education organizes an English proficiency test to classify levels, creating favorable conditions for placing students in communication skills classes. Students are required to submit international language certificates according to the school's own regulations to have their scores transferred/exempted from foreign language courses and be exempted from the foreign language exit exam in semester 1 of the 2025-2026 school year.
Many member schools of Ho Chi Minh City National University have English entrance test regulations.

In particular, the University of Natural Sciences organizes an English test at the beginning of the semester to place suitable English courses for students of the general program and to assess the level for the English enhancement program.
Students will take the multiple-choice test on the answer sheet on September 5. Students who do not take the English test at the beginning of the semester and do not have a satisfactory foreign language certificate will be placed in remedial English classes.
Students with a foreign language certificate that meets the output standards and is still valid at the time of submission to the school will be exempted from studying English courses and considered to meet the output foreign language standards according to regulations. These students do not need to take the English test at the beginning of the course.
New full-time students of the 2025 enrollment period of the University of Economics and Law (except for students who have been recognized as meeting the entrance or exit foreign language standards) according to the school's regulations must also take the English proficiency entrance test immediately after enrollment.
The test format for students of the Vietnamese language program will include 3 skills (listening - reading - writing). For students of the English language program (class E), the English test will include 4 skills (listening - reading - speaking - writing).
International University has scheduled English entrance exam on August 26-30.
Some other universities also organize English exams such as: Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport...
In the context of increasing integration requirements, English is no longer an advantage but has become a mandatory skill.
Universities have had clear orientations from the first days students enter the lecture hall, with a series of requirements on input and output standards to equip them with the best preparation for the future.
