"This is my first opportunity to directly interact with a large Vietnamese audience," Ambassador Julien Guerrier said with a smile at the event that started at 10 a.m. on November 28. "I am very happy to be here."

Over the next hour or so, Ambassador Guerrier answered dozens of questions from readers of Dan Tri newspaper, addressing various aspects of the bilateral relationship between Vietnam and the European Union (EU).

Mr. Guerrier set three goals for himself in the upcoming term: promoting bilateral trade and investment, strengthening cooperation in Vietnam's green transition, and contributing to regional security and stability. He pledged that the EU would support Vietnam in its development goals, such as the goal of deeply participating in the global semiconductor supply chain.

Not only providing diplomatic information, Ambassador Guerrier also showed his personal traits during the exchange. Being French, he expressed his impression of Vietnamese cuisine, especially spring rolls and fish cakes. The Ambassador also wants to visit as many provinces and cities in Vietnam as possible during his term.

Mr. Guerrier recalled the feeling of great joy when he learned that he was chosen as EU Ambassador to Vietnam because he had applied for the position himself.

“I was able to see how exciting and rapidly developing this country is,” said Ambassador Guerrier. “After many years of effort, after a difficult period in the 20th century, Vietnam’s moment has come.”

The large number of questions sent by readers of Dan Tri newspaper before and during the exchange partly showed the level of interest of Vietnamese people in the EU - Vietnam relationship in general and in Ambassador Guerrier in particular.

The Ambassador would like to express his sincere thanks to the readers of Dan Tri newspaper who sent their questions to the exchange. Although he could not answer all of them due to time constraints, Mr. Guerrier expressed his wish to continue to exchange with Vietnamese readers in the coming occasions.
