Ambassador Nguyen Viet Cuong spoke at the ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Nguyen Viet Cuong affirmed that the event of President Ho Chi Minh reading the Declaration of Independence on September 2, 1945 not only gave birth to an independent nation but also opened a new era of freedom and happiness for the entire nation.

Under the leadership of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh, the Vietnamese people have overcome all difficulties, gained independence, unified the country, successfully carried out the Doi Moi process, and turned Vietnam into a peaceful , stable, friendly and dynamic country in the international arena.

Ambassador Nguyen Viet Cuong highlighted Vietnam's outstanding achievements over the past 80 years. After nearly 40 years of Doi Moi, Vietnam has overcome the consequences of war and risen to become one of the most dynamic economies in the region and the world. Per capita income in 1990 was only about 100 USD, but by 2024 it had increased to 4,700 USD, bringing the size of the economy to nearly 500 billion USD, ranking third in ASEAN.

Currently, Vietnam has established diplomatic relations with 194 countries, is a member of more than 70 international organizations, has trade relations with 230 countries and territories, participated in 17 new-generation free trade agreements, and is vigorously implementing administrative reforms at all levels.

Vietnam aims to develop and become a developed and high-income country by 2045 based on the "four pillars": Promoting science, technology and innovation; proactively integrating deeply into the international community; strongly developing the private economic sector; and comprehensively innovating law-making and enforcement.

The Ambassador emphasized that the close friendship between Vietnam and Chile was established from the historic meeting between President Ho Chi Minh and President Salvador Allende in May 1969 and was followed by Chile becoming one of the first Latin American countries to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam in 1971.

President Luong Cuong's official visit to Chile in November 2024 is also an important milestone, contributing to further deepening the relationship between the two countries.
