Ensure conditions for teaching 2 sessions/day

Implementing the direction of the Ministry of Education and Training, starting from the 2025-2026 school year, secondary and high schools with adequate facilities will implement 2 sessions/day.

In Quang Ninh , preparations for this task were carried out early, ensuring the principle of voluntariness.

Staff and teachers of Mao Khe 1 Secondary School (Mao Khe Ward) held a professional meeting to prepare a plan to teach 2 sessions/day in the 2025-2026 school year.

According to Official Dispatch No. 4567/BGD&DT-GDPT (dated August 5, 2025) of the Ministry of Education and Training on instructions for organizing 2 sessions/day for general education, at primary level,   teach 2 sessions/day;   implement a teaching plan of at least 9 sessions/week (equivalent to 32 periods/week).   Teaching and learning can be organized in the form of self-study with teacher guidance, group learning, experiential learning, club activities...

For secondary school level, implement 2 sessions/day teaching according to the roadmap; organize and implement 2 sessions/day teaching in schools with adequate facilities and teaching staff; arrange time and study schedule for at least 5 days/week, maximum 11 sessions/week. Diversify teaching organization forms such as studying in groups of students with the same level, ability or according to interest clubs; guide students to self-study, combine in-class learning and out-of-class educational activities...

For high school level, implement 2-session teaching/day according to the roadmap; organize and implement 2-session teaching/day in schools with adequate facilities and teaching staff; arrange time and study schedule for at least 5 days/week, maximum 11 sessions/week. Forms of teaching organization are diverse such as studying in groups of students with the same level and interests; organize clubs, guide students to self-study, combine in-class learning and educational activities outside the classroom and outside the school; coordinate with universities, research institutions, vocational training institutions, businesses, organizations, and individuals participating in appropriate educational activities to support the organization of 2-session teaching/day.

It is known that for many years, the province has done quite well in teaching 2 sessions/day at the primary level. The rate of primary school students studying 2 sessions/day increased from 78% (school year 2023-2024) to 100% (school year 2024-2025). For secondary and high school levels, this is the first year the province has simultaneously implemented teaching and learning 2 sessions/day at qualified schools. Accordingly, the Department of Education and Training has drafted a document advising the Provincial People's Committee to direct departments, branches and sectors to coordinate with the Department of Education and Training to mobilize resources from the whole society to participate in organizing teaching and learning 2 sessions/day according to Directive 17/CT-TTg dated June 6, 2025 of the Prime Minister to ensure suitability with the actual conditions of each locality, meeting the goals of the 2018 General Education Program and the needs of students.

Currently, high schools in the province   has been actively reviewing the current status of facilities and teaching staff, determining funding needs to organize 2 sessions/day of teaching, reporting to the People's Committees of communes, wards, and special zones (for primary and secondary schools), and the Department of Education and Training (for high schools) to have an investment plan to ensure conditions for 2 sessions/day of teaching.   Along with that, survey the learning needs of students in the second session before the start of the new school year to have a plan to organize educational content to meet the learning needs of students and in accordance with the conditions of the school; organize communication so that students, parents and social forces understand and agree with the implementation of Directive 17/CT-TTg.

Teacher Pham Thi Phu, Principal of Mao Khe 1 Secondary School (Mao Khe Ward) said: Implementing the direction of the Ministry of Education and Training on organizing 2 sessions/day, the school has proactively developed a plan and allocated a reasonable timetable. The school currently has 904 students, in the afternoon the school plans to arrange for review of admission work, review of the team, sports and art activities. The school has 21 classrooms, along with a full system of training grounds and functional rooms, and guaranteed facilities, helping students to study stably.

The implementation of teaching 2 sessions/day is aimed at improving the quality of comprehensive education in ethics, intelligence, physical fitness, and aesthetics, building a healthy educational environment, effectively using the existing teaching staff, facilities, and teaching equipment, promoting socialization to develop education, and overcoming the situation of illegal extra teaching and learning.
