Director Dinh Tuan Vu returns to cinema

More than 5 years since his last movie - "Legend of Quan Tien", director Dinh Tuan Vu returns with the psychological-dramatic work "Snail Borrowed Soul".

The film is a co-production between Galaxy Studio, BC Pictures and HK Film, marking a new challenge for Dinh Tuan Vu.

Dinh Tuan Vu said he wanted to tell a story that he felt truly haunted and compelled by.

According to the revelation, Snail and Soul is a film about humans, how we hide, struggle, and then collide with the dark side within ourselves.

In addition to carefully preparing the script, the film's setting chooses a multi-layered, dramatic storytelling style, with unexpected "twists" that promise to bring viewers an emotional and satisfying cinematic experience.

Regarding his absence from the big screen for more than 5 years, director Dinh Tuan Vu said that he also managed to complete 2 TV series: My House Is Strange and Investigation Team No. 7 season 2.

During those 5 years, he had the opportunity to look back on his previous career and develop himself. He found himself having many changes in his thinking, being calmer and more perceptive in telling a story so that the audience could sympathize with the characters, whether they were right or wrong.

The male director is confident that The Snail with the Borrowed Soul is a genuine film and shows more maturity in the way it reaches the audience.

The crew is still keeping the actors’ identities a secret. The film is also being filmed in Dak Lak province and Ho Chi Minh City.

The Snail is scheduled to premiere in March 2026.

Dinh Tuan Vu was born in 1989, and had a love affair with cinema from his first graduation work And I Will Return (2013). After that, he continuously took on the role of director and co-director of many films: Yen's Life, Waiting for You Tomorrow, What's Your Taxi Name? Stupid 17, On the Western Mountain Top, Uncle, Don't Marry My Mom, The Legend of Quan Tien .

He won the Best Director award for Yen's Life at the 2015 Golden Kite Awards . This work also won the Silver Kite and Silver Lotus awards at the 19th Vietnam Film Festival.

In addition, his film The Legend of Quan Tien also won the Silver Lotus at the 21st Vietnam Film Festival, while the work Uncle Don't Marry My Mother received the award for Most Favorite Film voted by the audience, also at the 21st Vietnam Film Festival.
